Not bad, decent meal

There's no option for good, it's better than average but not very good, I'd say 6/10. We decided to give this place a try as we'd heard that it'd been taken over by new management. Myself and my husband gave this a go on a Tuesday evening never having been before. We were both impressed the restaurant area was lovely the staff were friendly even had a nice chat with the owner. Couldn't fault the food, huge portion sizes and both our meals were beautiful, had a really good evening we will be back 10/10

Have tried to go to this pub a few times over the years and tried again today- but not for the first time the pub was shut. Is that really good for business closing on Boxing Day evening? The one time I can remember actually getting in here previously, the staff spent the whole evening hovering over us waiting for... More

Whilst the Ship was relevantly quite I presume people suffering the floods in Cockermouth and the surrounding (Hope they will get back into their homes soon) area the food was excellent and service good.

We had a family meal here recently. The staff didn't know much about the menu, what was in the items and didn't seem too interested in finding out. My meal was wrong and when corrected, one item scraped off the plate and what I had ordered dumped in the space. Other meals were OK Very disappointing after a previous visit... More

Had heard it was under new management so thought we would give it a go, but I wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend it. They have improved on the surroundings and it is nice inside. But the food was expensive and nothing to write home about. It was ok. £13.95 for fish and chips and £11.95 for Sweet and Sour... More

Thought we would give the ship another chance with the new management, and having seen the recent good reviews. However we were disappointed, the food, although large portions was distinctly average with overlooked veg and average chips with my steak and ale pie, which to be fair was very good. The waitress also did not know what bitters they sold,... More

I took 2 adults and 2 under 4s to this lovely pub where a great time was had by all. The food was of good quality and presented well. Service was very efficient and the added bonus of a Beer Garden where the kids could run off their energy was a big bonus. Well worth a visit but it is... More
