Went for a family meal on Sunday. Good quality foodd and generous portions. The service was excellent and really quick. Staff are really nice and friendly. We would recommend this loud as an excellent place to eat. Children are made very welcome and there is a good choice of food for them as well.

Wandering round Cockermouth on Friday evening wondering where to eat and we came across this little gem someone at the ba said it was the best bar in town and also the food was good. It was very busy. Dogs are allowed so if this is a problem for you then be aware. The staff are young and work really... More

Party of 20, all enjoyed food, which was generous in portions and good quality, service was quick, efficient and friendly. Beer was good and served quickly, by pleasant and hard working bar staff. Would recommend this lovely friendly pub in the vibrant town of Cockermouth, well worth a visit.

The pub has a bar area and a couple of small rooms, where you can eat if you wish, and a restaurant upstairs. The interior is what you would expect a castle which has been turned into a pub to look like, and tastfully done. Between 5pm and 7pm they sell beers at £2.00 per pint, this includes real ales,... Ate here several times before but wasnt quite up to par. We where a party of six and service for our table was significantly slower than other smaller tables around us (like the kitchen tried to rush out there orders before starting ours). That said food is almost what it says on the tin. Gastropub is a very generous term... More

Visited with my parents, husband and baby daughter and parents' dog. Staff were welcoming and very tolerant of the dog, who's a bit boisterous and insisted on sitting on the chairs. No one batted an eyelid though and many commented on the dog's cuteness. The food was good and so was the beer, and there wasn't a long wait, but... More

I used to be a regular diner at the Castle Bar it used to be consistently lovely. In the last few months though I think there must have been a new chef and the food has deteriorated a lot. The Lasagne was the best I had ever tasted but now it it dry and flavourless. Sack the chef and bring... More
