Eaten here twice - and really not that impressed... The first time, an indifferent pub meal that took ages to be served. We were a party of 6 on a week day night with a straightforward order, where we'd booked beforehand This time a very tough steak, and chips had that old fat that tainted taste. Less than average. There... More

A big thank you to Jayne and her team at the Castle Bar in Cockermouth! We celebrated my husband's 50th Birthday there with family and friends. There were 26 of us in total and we had a room to ourselves to dine in, which was fantastic! The whole place had a warm and welcoming atmosphere and all of the waiters... More

We held a family celebration at the castle bar & i cannot praise them enough, there was 18 of us in our party & we had pre-ordered our meal which was served without delay by very friendly staff, nothing was a problem to them, they even gave us the upstairs room to let us all have a chat after the... Not the pubs fault but we went in with 2 children to get out of the rain and get some food whilst on holiday. It was about 7pm. A customer sat by the bar made a comment about who would bring kids into a pub this late. We walked out straight away. Awful atmosphere.

When given the choice of here, the Trout or a place in Keswick for my romantic Valentine meal, I decided on the Castle bar as so far I have yet to be disappointed food-wise. I was not on this occasion either. I chose the chicken, chorizo and pea risotto and although I was a little concerned that it looked a... More

Great pub with a friendly atmosphere. Good for a quick pop in or for an evening. Nice bar snacks, lovely chips etc. I haven't had a meal in there for about 6 months, it was a little disappointing but I believe at the time they were in between chefs. In all I can highly rate the castle.
