Great place!

This a great place for a meal and few drinks. Set over three floors upstairs you can have a lovely sit down meal or downstairs you can order at the bar. Outside there is a fantastic sun terrace. There is also a great selection of drinks too.

Called in here as we needed to eat early and there didn't seem to be much else open. Originally sat in upstairs dining room but this was empty of people, dark and had awful music playing so decided to eat in bar. My husband was delighted with the choice of real ale. Ordered fish & chips. Freshly cooked. Plenty of... More

Having recently moved to the area and trying several places to eat in Cockermouth i can certainly say Castle Bar is a hidden gem. Upon arriving you don't think much from its exterior which resembles a typical town pub, on entering it again is just a pub however upstairs is a lovely quaint restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. The food... More

Visited on a Saturday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Not your normal pub food. I had a BBQ pulled chicken wrap which was lovely and the salt and pepper chips were fantastic. Highly recommended for classic pub food with a twist

On first looking you wouldn't realise that the restaurant is upstairs. The starters an main courses for all of us were fantastic. The surroundings and atmosphere great. And the staff were all friendly. The food takes a little while to prepare, but well worth the wait. We as a family tend to make an evening of our meals when eating... More

We were in the area for a wedding and were recommend here, we arrived and got a bottle of prosecco for just £15 so were pleased! They hadn't started serving food yet so can't comment on that although we looked at a menu and everything's sounded nice but there wasn't many veggie mains just 3 but it's all lovely inside... More

It was a nice pub and the happy hour was between 5-7pm when the ales were £2 a pint. The food was nice, had a pulled beef brisket burger, chips were very well cooked. No real wow factor bur worth a visit whilst in the area.

We entered this pub for a meal on a Sunday evening with friends, there were 4 adults and 3 children. We were told there was a table at the back of the pub if we wished to eat..having found the table closely situated near a live singer, we thought this was not the most pleasant atmosphere to eat a meal... The food here was absolutely unbelievably good. My partner had to keep pausing and closing his eyes he loved his meal so much! The portion sizes were good, the veg fresh and crisp. I had the steak and ale pie, I cannot recommend it highly enough. My partner had the shoulder of lamb which was perfectly cooked and we've both... More
