Visited twice in the last month. First visit in between Christmas and New Year at lunchtime, which was pleasant and the Pulled Pork sandwich was good. However, the second visit was on a Friday night and the service was appalling. We waited an age just for drinks and the the meal took the best part of two hours at one... More

We went very recently for our sons birthday. The town had recently been flooded and many businesses are still to re-open. The Castle bar staff are very welcoming. When the order was slightly wrong, the staff apologised readily. The meals are huge, you would have to be a competitive eater to eat three courses. The food is very tasty. We... More

We visited here whilst on a family holiday at Bassenthwaite lake. We came with our four children. We received a warm welcome and the service was very good and quick. The food was reasonably priced and was delicious. The staff were friendly and went away satisfied! We will be back again if the chance comes by!

Called in with no reservatiom and were received very warmly. The ambience in the first floor restaurant was excellent. The menu extensive and also a hot bits menu for a lighter lunch. The food was well presented, very tasty and reasonably priced. I would recommend a visit. Tempuri chicken was our favourite.

I recently visited the Castle Bar in Cockermouth, with a group of friends, the pub looked warm and inviting, however the staff were not. We felt as though we were an inconvenience when asking for a table on a Not Busy Sunday night. the food appeared to be up market pub grub which was reflected in the price, so we... More

Went for lunch and was really pleased with our choice of venue. Friendly bar staff directed us to the upstairs dining area which was great for both couples or larger groups. A few tables were already occupied which is always a good sign for a mid week lunchtime. Food was freshly prepared, nicely presented, piping hot and tasty. We had... More
