Food quality cannot be praised highly enough .. everything is cooked to perfection. A lamb shank - the meat falls off the bone. Salmon - tastes that fresh it must have been caught that very morning. And the staff - very attentive, pleasant and professional.

Two visits recently with different groups of friends both gave us the same experience. Lovely, peaceful place, great food, an unhurried approach to the meal and everyone satisfied. What more can you ask for? The comments made by others about being stuck in some sort of time wharp fail to see that this is an old country house hotel. It... More

We had afternoon tea here , one of several at different hotels in the lakes as golden wedding gifts, this was the best . From the warm welcome on arrival , to excellent service. We were given a tray with our pot of tea etc & even a cloth wrapped around the tea pot handle in case it was to... More

went there for "afternoon tea". this sort of stuff is not usually my thing but it was bought as a gift, so I thought I would give it a go. The butties and cake were ok, nothing to write home about. The place was tired and worn out, which you sometimes get, but is was so morbid, it was like... More

Lovely welcome, choice of seating and more than surprised by the variety and quality of the food. Excellent choice of teas and offered replenishments. Only difficulty was not being too greedy. First class service. Considering it was a wet Wednesday afternoon in February, it was noticeable how many people were there enjoying tea and creating a friendly atmosphere. Very easy... More

We went for Afternoon tea yesterday. It was buffet style, and the choice and quality was amazing. We sat in front of the open fire, then served with a tray of tea for two, with the finest quality china. We were asked, if we required anymore tea. But we were so full , we declined. The furnishings and décor are very... More

As a local party of eight we chose the Rothay Manor for a recent Birthday celebration and despite some reservations about the antiquated style of the restaurant, we hoped to make the most of their 2 for 1 offer. How I wished I'd checked tripadvisor beforehand! Our evening was so hilariously bad I half expected either Basil Fawlty to appear... More

Weekday night for dinner. Locals offer of BOGOF ! Drinks and canapés in the lounge were nice. Dining room was very light, no atmosphere and very dated, felt like I was back in the 80s ! The food was ok but quite sort of pub mealish. The portions were of a generous size tho. Think the place as a whole... More
