Lovely place to stay

Spent a few days here with my husband at the beginning of the years d it was a great find. The food was excellent from the afternoon tea that greeted us to the delicious dinners and breakfast. Staff were excellent, attentive without being gushy and nothing was too much trouble.

We made a mid week visit to this establishment for Afternoon Tea, which had been given to us in the form of a Gift Voucher by my daughter for our anniversary. Set in the heart of Ambleside Rothay Manor is a lovely period hotel. This is an Afternoon Tea with a twist, because it is served buffet style in the... More

Had a three night break (under the autumn offers – which also includes one afternoon tea) at the Rothay Manor, Ambleside. The hotel is a nice looking building with ample parking at the front of the building and if that is busy there is more car parking available at the side. The receptionist booked us in and showed us to... More

We have a family dinner each year at Rothay Manor for my wife's birthday. Last Saturday for the first time we had afternoon tea there. It was memorable. Sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche, scotch eggs, meringues, fruit cake, lemon drizzle cake, coconut & cherry cake (to name but a few) and exceptional Bakewell Tart. Comfortable surroundings and attentive service All in... More

We booked Sunday lunch here while staying nearby as the cost was reasonable and it was very close by. The meal it's self was good and great value, drinks were a little expensive which hiked the bill up, the service was good. But what really let the place down was the atmosphere, near on silence in the lounge before dinner... More

Every time we come to the Lakes we make a visit here. Quiet spacious surroundings with big squashy settees gives the impression of a genteel plate of dainty bites to come, but don't be deceived! This is in essence and 'all you can eat' buffet. You help yourself to an interesting variety of sandwiches and savories, followed by a good... More

We went for dinner midweek. We were not staying in the hotel, but the restaurant is open to all. It's kind of like going back in a time warp to the 80's. It's a real old fashioned hotel, but in a good way. The staff were great and the food is excellent. We both had the lamb for main course... More

We received a voucher for Afternoon Tea and selected Rothay Manor from the list. We arrived a little early which was not a problem. After being seated in a lounge where 2 other parties were also sat , a gentleman came in and took our preferred choice of tea/coffee. He then told us the procedure for selecting our food. This...
