Don’t waste your money on an afternoon tea at Rothay Manor. The hotel are living off the reputation that they have won an award of excellence from the Tea Council as one of the 50 best places for afternoon tea. The staff were not welcoming and they rushed us to seating that wasn’t suitable to eat afternoon tea unless you... More

This small hotel is lovely for a small break in the Lakes. We booked a Groupon deal and were blown away by the friendly service and good quality of our room, breakfast, dinner and the afternoon tea. Great location too for Ambleside and the Lakes.

I was given a voucher from some friends for my birthday, so whilst on holiday in the area we decided to try out this hotel. The surroundings were very relaxing & the staff were really very pleasant & helpful, however, the afternoon tea itself was a bit disappointing. The sandwiches were a bit on the dry side, bland & rather... More

We were given a voucher for afternoon tea by my niece as a Christmas present, and finally got to use it as we were staying near here. We had never had an afternoon tea before so didn't really know what to expect. We both thought it was lovely we were asked what tea or coffee we would like then we... More

afternoon tea was the best I have ever had! And I have had plenty!! Book and enjoy choosing what you can manage from the large selection of home made cakes and sandwiches. Lovely relaxed afternoon.

Having tried unsuccessfully to book previously was really looking forward to a buffet style afternoon tea in delightful setting. Gardens were somewhat small to take a stroll in. Sandwiches were dry and felt like they had been left out for hours plus the fillings were less than generous. The lemon meringue pie looked like it was from the previous day,... More

Just the best of afternoon teas. I've stayed in the hotel previously so knew about the teas but this time I stayed elsewhere (a little cheaper) but still treated myself to the indulgent treat. Sandwiches are just sandwiched but the cakes....yummy.

Friends took us for afternoon tea and we had a delightful autumnal Saturday afternoon. We have been before in early December when decorated for Christmas and it was lovely to see that the theme was Autumn leaves. The afternoon tea is buffet style so if you are expecting a china cake tiered stand of the traditional variety you will be... More

I was taking a couple out for afternoon tea as a treat and did a lot a research to find a special place and really thought I would not be disappointed. In fact I was embarrassed. I have been to quite a few places for afternoon tea and have always enjoyed it. So I thought I give Ambleside a try.... More

We had a wonderful afternoon tea here. We choose here because of others reviews and were not disappointed. It is excellent value for money as in essence it is “all you can eat” but presented very well. Hot drinks were waiter service, while you help yourself to the food. There was a wide selection of both drinks and food and... More
