Really good food, service & lovely setting, will definitely go back on our next visit to Ambleside. They where very accommodating to people who just popped in to see if any tables were free for the evening. Nobody was turned away

Most unassuming place but most friendly, welcoming, efficient and a great choice for our lunch in Ambleside. Highly recommended.

Visited as part of a 50th birthday weekend. Place is a like a tardis so no problem finding a table for the 6 of us. Nice selection of food and options for lunch such as soup and small sandwich, which has exactly what we were looking for but other choices such as starter size portions of main courses. I had... We have lunch here a couple of times a year and have never had a poor experience. The food is very good and there is a nice, warm atmosphere with good service. It is usually popular so can be difficult to get a table.

We were staying in Ambleside during New Years and were advised that this place was great from a previous visitor. After reading various reviews on sites I was a little dubious as there were some bad comments however they must have been in the wrong place as the meal was awesome! There was plenty to choose from and can cater... More

Bigger inside than it looks - could be that as i Am abstaining from alcohol that i didnt find it merited the cost, but give it a try ! The lamb was ok but could have done with its own sauce - but then again you can pay extra for different ones but i just thought it might have come... More

We came in for drinks one night, which they don't usually do(it's more of a restaurant)but it was very quiet. We ordered a Bailey's, Amaretto & a slice of cheesecake, all very nice, but expensive at £18 for just two drinks & one dessert, the cheesecake came about ten minutes before our drinks so was eaten before they even arrived.... Set down a side street, you might miss this, but it's well worth a visit. A very good menu for snacks, light bites and full meals. I chose the Borrowdale cream tea which included a slab of Cumbrian cheese and teabread as well as scone jam and cream and loose leaf tea. My wife had the soup with rustic bread.... More
