Popped in for coffee it was close to lunch time so perhaps it was expected we should have been eating (it wasn't busy) our main problem was the wait to be served and the unfriendliness of the staff which after having read the other reviews I am frankly surprised about! There was nothing wrong with the coffees and I am... More

What a super evening we had! They squeezed us in, when other restaurants weren't able to, then made us feel really special. The food was super, the ambience great......couldn't fault it.

Spacious dining rooms, not crammed in to maximise covers. Good variety on the menu to meet most tastes, generous portions, no defending music, pleasant staff

must say that the town was very busy and we thought we would struggle to get a decent meal but the meal we had at Sheila's cottage was excellent . We got a table ok and the meal was one of the best we'd had at a restaurant for a long time and we do eat out quite regularly. Staff... More

We came here this lunch after reading all the good reviews about it. We were greeted by the waiter. I ordered a burger and diet coke. The burger came with hand cut chips and salad. The salad was quite good but the chips was not. They tasted too sickly. The beef on the burger looked and tasted processed which was... More

Good menu and quality of food was good. Service was good. Bigger inside than you might think so worth trying to see if they have space.

In general, good, well cooked food in a nice atmosphere and reasonable staff. managed to get a table with no problem on a Saturday, so if you're stuck then this could be the place to try. A slight lack of imagination in that I always thought that 'specials' in a restaurant would sometime change...

We came across this lovely restaurant on a visit to Ambleside with a number of friends. There were seven of us so quite a lrage party but they found us a lovely table and served us very quickly. We had lunch there and found plenty to choose from on the menu at a very reasonable price. Would go again if... More

We had quite a nice lunch here: brie and bacon sandwich and Westmorland ramequin. Both were good, as was the rice pudding and raspberries. The tea was a little weak. The service was quite friendly on the whole, but quite sporadic. I spent some time trying to attract attention both for ordering dessert and the bill. It was also occasionally... More
