Just off the main drag stands this little cottage of a restaurant. We did book, and would suggest you do on most popular nights. Service was quick. Starters were good, but my chorizo in my starter a bit burnt. Mains, would recommend the ribeye, twas delicious. Sweets were standard and could have been more imaginative. Overall though, the food was very... More

Myself, my mum and auntie went to sheilas cottage for dinner and had a lovely time. The place has a great ambiance the staff are efficient and my beef shin special with a curried parsnip puree was to die for! Great easy going restaurant.

Hidden off the main track, popped in on a passing visit and discovered this lovely place. Definitely worth a visit and I'll be back on the next visit.

There were speciality teas on offer but they were served very weak. There were only plain scones whereas I much prefer fruit scones.

We arrived with no reservation and were fitted in. Service friendly and food OK. Would probably visit again.

Cosy atmosphere, a warm welcome, wonderful food. We had a tasty starter of wild mushroom and stilton, liver and bacon as never experienced. Great coffee, we couldn't manage a desert but we were sorely tempted. Great value for money.

Very disappointed, I had frozen fish and frozen chips, my friend had steak and kidney pudding straight from the microwave. The pot of tea was not good. Overpriced. Will not be returning.

We came across this restaurant by accident on a busy Saturday night, on entering the staff were helpful and accommodating and showed us to a lovely table up some stairs, the decor was rustic and homely. The service was fantastic and the food was some of the best we have had, beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We would definitely recommend... More

We passed initially on our way to another restaurant but as that was too busy and we had our two year old son with us we decided to try Sheila's Cottage, and we are so glad we did. The service was so fantastic and the food lovely, a brilliant way to spend our first night in The Lakes. Highly recommended.

March. Not the time of year you would normally go exploring the Lakes I guess, but we wanted to explore without the mass of people and cars. We didn't book anywhere to eat for the evenings as we didn't know where we would end up but found many places were already fully booked. We ended up in Ambleside one night... More
