I liked the choice of real ale, good pub food and the cosy area near the real fire. I like the promotion of the local lager and beers. The staff were very friendly and attentive. A very comfortable and relaxing place to eat or drink. And dog friendly!

A classic example of how much you can squeeze out of the tourists whilst providing as little quality as possible

We visited on Saturday for some lunch whilst staying elsewhere in Ambleside. The restaurant was well furnished and clean, however the service was poor and the food was very bad. I ordered the burger which I had assumed would have been of good quality for the £12.95 price tag however it was the worst burger I've ever had, infact I... More

Booked a 10 night stay having read the reviews and viewed the lovely marketing photos which bear no resemblance on the actual place. Drove all the way from London. arrived at the car park and our hearts sank. Went in to view, and walked out, forfeiting our deposit, which was worth it not to stay there. No character, no class,... Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We were very surprised when we received your cancellation from a third party booking company, as this was the first we heard that you would not be requiring your room. I understand if the restaurant and bar were not to your personal taste but find it difficult to understand that... More

Location was such that we stopped our hired boat at their jetty to catch some grub and a drink! If you are looking for a view of the lake this is up there with the best places. The food was good quality with a decent selection of snacks and lunch foods. The standard fare of draught and bottled drinks is... More

Tasty and Excellent food.Very helpful staff who were attentive and friendly and helped wherever they could. Located on the edge of the lake so great to sit outside and enjoy the evening air. Went back on consecutive nights to enjoy the food again!

Stayed just outside Ambleside for the weekend but didn't book anywhere for dinner on a Saturday night. Stopped at waterside inn as a last resort when all the other places we visited were full. busy restaurant but managed to get a table. On request a really comprehensive gluten free menu was available. Good portion size, fresh and hot food. Local... More

A lovely location for Drinks and afternoon lunch. Good sized portions, drinks however were expensive. We were in a group six and instead of going to the bar to order, a young male waiter served us at the table for about three hours and provided very good service throughout. Not too busy but excellent views onto Lake Windermere and of... More

Brilliant food, great scenery, fantastic staff and service but be careful if you have a salad, you might get more than what you expected. That's when their service gets poor and they do not compensate, the grubs come free!!!!

If you want a very good pub meal with views that are fantastic this is the place for you. The staff are excellent without being overbearing and the food for the price is incredibly good. We came back for a second go and weren't disappointed. Highly recommend.
