Great location right on the edge of Windermere. Lovely beer garden for sunny days the food was of a very good standard and reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit

So I would call this a posh pub. If the weather is good, all you need is a drink and head directly to the garden at the seafront! Amazing lake views.Nice, classic bar with beautiful interiors. I did like the lower level more as it had a bit more of a character. Friendly staff, good fish and chips, tasty whitebaits... More

Eat and drink on our stays in Ambleside, good selection of beers and varied menu not the cheapest in town but the pub is very tasteful and smart plus Dog Friendly.

We sat outside where there are large round tables overlooking a stunning view of the lake, it really is a lovely setting with a nice grass area if you have children with you. We ordered a Roast Pork Bap with fries, salad and crackling, and also Chicken Liver Pate, the appearance of the food was excellent, the Pork Bap was... More

Lovely view and average food but we felt let down. The bar staff just didn't listen when we were ordering. The chef was very unaccommodating of a nut allergy (in 2015 its unusual to be told ice cream or fruit salad only, and would indicate they don't make their pudding themselves). The nail in the coffin was the rat (we've... More

the staff weren't very friendly and when you asked a question you felt as if they couldn't be bothered to deal with you and the drinks were SOOOOO expensive compared to the prices at the YHA

The scoop is : if you pick an outside table, fetch a menu from inside, then look at the number on your table and order from the bar. Simple lunch ordered of Burger with accoutrements and Fish and chips. Our order was verified by the person who delivered our cutlery and condiments - no doubt a good strategy to ensure... More

Last time we came it was unseasonably sunny in autumn, but this time it was weirdly wet in June, so we stayed inside. The main bar is beautifully decorated, there are some decent local real ales, and an excellent menu. This was intend to be a light lunch as we were eating elsewhere later, so chose from the starter menu:... More

This place is a fabulous location for drink or food. The dishes are reliably traditional. Just don't have he Bellini, it tastes like chewable vitamins I had as a kid, not good. Service is also very fast and efficient, even when packed.

My husband and I ate dinner at this restaurant, not one, but two times during our stay in Ambleside. We enjoyed the food, location, and atmosphere so much that we decided to eat there for our second night too which we never do. It was an easy choice for us. Good food, good beer. Definitely recommend!
