I visited Lucy's On A Plate in May 2014. We came back to the lakes in July and wanted to come here again as the food was/is out of this world. I decided to order the Pork belly as this is one of my favourite dishes. When my food arrived I was very disappointed by the size of the meat, especially... More

We planned a night here as part of our 11th wedding anniversary. After a walk up striding edge we were ready for this. We had reserved by phone and were asked if it was a special occasion. We mentioned it was our anniversary and we got a special mention on the menu. It was a nice touch. We didn't have... More

Had my hen party (16 girls) at Lucy's. From start to finish Lucy and her team were professional and handled all of my booking nightmares you get with a large group. The meal and evening was superb, I will bring my husband when we are next in town. Keep it up, thank you!

Our first night in Ambleside, lovely weather, my wife and I congratulated ourselves on finding Lucy's. I'd earlier noticed a bust of Laocoon in torment in Lucy's wine bar window - but hadn't realised it was a portent... After a really friendly start, we waited an hour and then politely asked if we had been forgotten. After a few minutes... More

We really enjoyed the starters and were looking forward to our mains, but unfortunately when they arrived they were rather underwhelming. My friend had the duck and the sauce was so overpowering that she remarked it was as though 'the jar feel in'. A couple of us tried the sausage but it was rather plain and unexciting. The bobooty I... More

On arrival at Lucy's we were greeted very warmly by Lucy...and we were looking forward to a nice meal. However, once we were seated it all went rapidly downhill. Our waitress was relatively new,I think, which is fine,no problem with that at all, unfortunately though she was very surly, did not engage with us at all and muttered constantly. I think she had trouble... More

We also waited a very long time for our food last night and with Lucy around, it was not a problem, she is the height of a great hostess. Our food did eventually arrive, over 75 minutes after we arrived, mine was cold, not warm, cold! I sent it back, meanwhile my husband enjoyed a delicious fish dish. 20 minutes... More

Food eventually good, service extremely poor and atmosphere reminiscent of a doctors surgery. Waited almost 45 mins for starter whilst watching 5 tables who arrived after us get served food, when pointed this out to waitress she went away to check and said starters would be with us shortly, about another 10 mins later they arrived. Drinks supplier was in... More

The food here was freshly prepared and delicious. Both of the main courses that we ordered (duck and steak) were well cooked and the cakes we chose for afters were scrummy. Unfortunately on the day we visited the service was slow. Maybe we were unlucky and just caught them at a bad time and it would not have mattered so... More
