Lucy's on a plate has been operational now for over 20 years and offers a unique and quirky dining experience - everchanging but the ethos remaining the same - catering for a variety of different palates - especially popular for the range of gluten free dishes and delicious desserts ... over 30 desserts daily made on the premises from Borrowdale Sticky Banana Pudding through to Apple and Almond Eve's Pudding as well as innovative and inventive temptations. Ensure you book for the evening menu and you could find yourself mentioned in dispatches-great for birthdays and special occasions - there's a lovely large table for bigger groups (up to 16) and special celebrations are most welcome, without destroying the romantic ambience in the evening - the menu is changed daily with a wide range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes(gluten free again marked clearly on the menus)! Join us for Brunch and Lunch at Lucy's from 12pm, Sunday Lunches (on Sundays of course!) and lots of choice throughout the week. Lucy's chooses locally to cook globally. Dine or drink ... with friends, family, loved ones or on your own - Lucy's is a place that once discovered - you'll never forget.

We went for a dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant doesn't look like much from outside but the ambience and atmosphere inside was great. Friendly welcome and the food was really good quality and reasonably priced. Only slight downside was poor service from our waitress. All other staff were on the ball. I think she was probably new. We ate here on our last visit to Ambleside two years ago and decided to re visit for our last night. Very busy Friday night, massive party in of 45 people in the conservatory and the restaurant was full. Have to say despite being that busy, the service was good, as was the food, portions are a good size, save... More

This was our second visit to Lucy's, both occasions left us happy with the food and service. The crayfish starter was lovely and the chocolate cake is incredibly satisfying and tasty. One particular waiter, Dylan (?), seems to know exactly what customer service is about. We'll be back.

Popped in for a coffee and a scone. It was fine and service was good. But once we saw the bill and the price for each scone it took our breath away. Lesson learnt - we should check the menu before we order! Others were eating and the food looked really good so worth a visit

Great for lunch or dinner if you're in Ambleside. Pasta and toastie selection pretty good. Real fire and lots of atmosphere.

A dog friendly restaurant that we have frequented for about five years for coffee and cakes; and we have never been disappointed. Bizarrely as we where entering the front door today; a local woman warned us of overpricing - but (again) this was not the case.

Great relaxed meal, food is excellent, home cooked with a professional and modern twist, the Lamb and Beef were both excellent and, as you would expect, the desert puds were gorgeous!!

I arranged a “treat” for mother’s day for afternoon tea at Lucys, we had heard so much about it over the years and decided this would be the perfect place. Upon sitting down we were asked what we would like to drink, once the drinks had arrived we were then left for a long period of time. Finally a plate... More

After a long week of many hikes, this was just the ticket. Staff were professional and courteous, the menu had many options (though only 2 for veggies) and the prices were very good for the type of food, especially with what else was available in the village. It was 7pm on a Friday and we got a table straight away,... More
