We had dinner here last night and had a great evening. When we made the booking we informed the chap it was our anniversary and we got a mention on the top of the menu, a lovely touch. We had balloons on our table, a great start to the evening. The restaurant was full, fab atmosphere, loved all the candles.... More

An excellent and varied menu with some unusual dishes. This is not the cheapest restaurant in Ambleside but certainly one of the best when it comes to the quality of the food. The service was a bit slow, reflecting perhaps the fact that the place was very busy. Apart from this however, we would probably eat here again. The staff... More

What a shambles! We only popped in for a coffee, we waited a ridiculously long time for our coffee to be served and the service in general was poor with phones ringing off the hook, just seemed shambolic. I've eaten at Lucy's before and really enjoyed it. I was actually embarrassed as I recommended Lucy's to my partner. I was... More

Have visited and stayed in Ambleside lots and have eaten at Lucy's on a Plate on a number of occasions enjoying the food and service. However, our last visit was not up to previous standards. Although the restaurant was busy and there seemed to be enough staff to cope with demand we were left to wait some time before having... More

Middle of August, peak season so glad I booked, Very busy night, fully booked. Good welcome, jovial and polite. Food was off a good standard and broad choice. (Plenty of choice for veggies and gluten free) The place has a nice vibe, even though busy, our main waitress was courteous and engaging.

We have had a number of meals at Lucy's and have been impressed by the service and the quality of food on previous visits. On this occasion, we brought the family along, a group of 10. It was a quiet night in the restaurant but the service was painfully slow. We placed our order with a waiter who had a... More

I have to say this would have to be the best restaurant food I've ever had. The service was brilliant, so attentive and the the food, well we're do i start. The bread they gave us was fresh and homemade, so light and tasty. The starter was equally as nice. As for the mains, I couldn't get over the presentation... More

For our last day in Ambleside, we decided to treat ourelves to a relatively expensive lunch at Lucy's on a Plate. The service was pleasant but very slow and unpredictable. The point that upset me particularly was that, having ordered the Fish Platter at £15, several key ingredients were missing altogether (smoked salmon and potted shrimps) and the smoked mackerel...
