Delicious food with a variety of specials. All beautifully cooked. Fantastic beer brewed onsite in Barngates Brewery. Wonderful staff. Excellent attention to allergies and adapting menu items or creating something special (you aren't made to feel troublesome or to miss out on delicious food just because of an allergy) even for the afternoon tea! Wow: such a treat! Cannot find... More

A little bit unfair of me writing about lunch at the Drunken Duck, because it would appear there is a big difference between that and dinner. At lunchtime you can`t book, and it is really only a slightly upmarket bar snack menu. However, the food is pleasant and the service is cheerful. One of the wine glasses we were given... More

We booked to be assured of a table and were given a lovely one right in the heart of the restaurant. From entering the staff we lovely; courteous and friendly with a good level of efficiency. The bar was nice for an initial drink. The menu is not huge but covers all likes. We received an amuse bouche and delicious... More

| dropped in early last week to try and make a booking for 5 for any night that week. The receptionist couldn't have been less helpful and stated that they were nearly full and that the big table had gone. I appreciate that they are very busy but they were borderline rude when I asked if they could put two... More

We had a lovely pub lunch here - excellent steak sandwich and fat juicy moules frites efficiently served outside on tables with a wonderful view over the hills. Friendly staff and certainly worth the visit.

I had been meaning to come to the Drunken duck for a while. So my friend and I decided to make a spur of the moment trip, and were very glad that we did . We sat in the garden enjoying the sunshine before ordering from the lunch menu. We shared a starter of moules frites which were deliciously plump... More

We visit the Lake District several times a year and the Drunken Duck has been a favourite place to eat since our kids were small - they are now grown up enough to take themselves on their own visits to the area. It oozes comfort and there is nothing better than sitting outside on a sunny day taking in the... More

We stopped off here for a drink and a bowl of chips. The staff were friendly and helpful and the both food and drinks were very tasty. Unfortunately they were fully booked for dinner, or else we would have stayed on for a meal. We'll just have to come back...

Two dinners here during our stay in the hotel. Great food experience. Really nice cuisine. The shame is the wine list: we had 5 different wines (by the glass): none of them would rate good, two were unacceptable. Pity, would have rated 5 otherwise. Staff was nice (accepted to change one of the wine... for another one not better at... More

I went with three friends for a meal, and despite booking over a week in advance we could only get a table for 21.00. The service was friendly and the atmosphere cosy and sophisticated. They welcomed us is and took our drinks to the table. The food looked and tasted beautiful and we didn't feel rushed to leave even though... More
