Much better restaraunts in Ambleside

Food and service was poor - not up to the standard we had expected. It's possible to eat much better in the local towns

came here for a family day out as recommended by a few people. Perfect setting and the weather couldn't have been better. The setting is also perfect. The service is superb, but the menu is complicated, expensive and not really aimed at pub food customers. Seemed a little bit of an identity crisis, is this a pub, or is it... More

The menu was very unclear on what you was actually getting, no description of what was going to arrive on our plates, £16 for a roast dinner is fine if your getting a full plate of good quality, properly cooked food but what we got was unacceptable....beef not that succulent, HALF a roast potato, ONE dried up shrivelled small carrot,... My wife and I have been eating at the Drunken Duck for the last ten years and have always been more than happy with the food and service we have received. We have had lunch on two occasions in the last month and have left wondering what has happened to this pub ? The portion size has dramatically decreased. Seven... More

Beer reasonably priced - otherwise, everything else seems overpriced - this pub is firmly aimed at those who aren't worried about bills which is worth bearing in mind when reading any critical reviews. Nicely decorated and pleasant atmosphere, (although in my book, it's location is worthless without being able to enjoy the surrounding views, which only seemed possible whilst sitting... More

Absolutely adore this little pub just full of character and atmosphere. Every time we go to the lakes we make sure we do at least one walk which incorporates the Drunken Duck so that we can stop for a well earned drink. Lovely roaring fire for the cold days and fantastic outdoor seating for the sunny days with breath-taking views... More

We knew that The Drunken Duck Inn has a reputation of being expensive but nevertheless it is a pleasant pub to sit in and enjoy a drink. I ordered a small glass (175 mls) of red wine and a pint of real ale. I was charged £11.45. After a while I looked at their blackboard and saw that the glass... More
