I knew this place from travelling with my parents in tne lakes 40 years ago, though this was the first time I have been in it. The choice of ales is excellent and the food is spot on.

Loved these visits, dogs more than welcome and food excellent. Last time visited, with children, did not feel comfortable in restaurant, would say use bar, we will in future.

My wife and I visited this restaurant eighteen months ago -March 2013-I said at the time we were invisible to the staff that evening and it was not very good -I had booked and it was our wedding anniversary -rude staff -too late for specials -only because they did not take our order . however this year oct.2014 and a... The Drunken Duck is a Lake District must visit be it for a pint and a sandwich to a full blown fantastic evening meal. We enjoyed a hearty lunch of Mussels minus the frites and a Ruben sandwich followed by the most fantastic Tarte Tatin and blackberry ice-cream ... Recommended

The car park was crowded as we rolled up for lunch on a Friday in October. Heart-sinking moment: will there be any tables free, will the staff be rushed off their feet? No need to worry - this wonderful pub/restaurant has plenty of room to sit inside and outside, we were warmly welcomed and immediately found a table. The menu... More

My husband and I went here for dinner as part of our holiday. It was a definite treat meal so we had the full three courses and two bottles of wine. The bill was a little eye watering (thank goodness we had vouchers from friends!) but the food was absolutely fantastic - very unusual and beautifully prepared. The service was... More

I cannot believe the patronising drivel written by so many people. We have never stayed there but our latest visit was marred by an insulting presentation of so called sandwiches wrapped in paper. No salad garnish or even a crisp just a pre packed ordinary sandwich for about £6. Last time iit was a £12 steak sandwich which was as... More

friendly barman who gave us good menu recomendations. Food came very quickly and was delicious. I recommend the Salt beef sandwich with sauerkraut, gherkins, Emmental, horseradish.. it was amazing. The decor inside is lovely and there are plenty of local ales on offer. Great place to eat

We called in for lunch on our way back home, the pub has its own brewery and I tried a pint of their stout which was excellent. I had the fava bean hommus and my wife went for the soup, both of which were very good. A cosy country pub, we'll call in again if we're in the area.
