Good but full of itself.

A great meal. But what scatty arrogant service. It took us an hour and a half to get our main course. And God forbid if you complain. Somehow, it should have all been magical, as this restaurant is miles ahead of everything else in the Lake District. But when you feel like an afterthought, the... read more

Stopped here for a light lunch, the pulled pork and vegetarian rolls were excellent. Service very fast. Impressed, would definitely visit again.

Went there for a lunch while was in the Lake District. The kitchen looked amazing, but the menu was very poor compare it to other places, still decided to order, but shouldn't have done. The steak pie was basically a few bits of diced meat in a pot with puff pastry on the top and definitely too small.

This is a great pub. We have eaten here in the past. This time we just visited several times for a drink on our way home after long walks. The atmosphere is always great, very relaxed and staff are friendly. Very busy so sometimes hard to find a seat but worth the hunt.

Ate here on a very wet evening when staying at the nearby Randy Pike B&B. Service was very friendly yet intrusive. Nice selection of drinks including several real ales. A wide food selection. When food arrived it was excellent. Very tasty and plenty of it. We will be returning.

It is several years since we had eaten here and decided to have lunch on a wet Lake District day. We were early and a good job we were, not long after we arrived the place was full for lunch and people waiting. Plenty of local beer to choose from, lovely setting and excellent staff, but more important than all... More

We were greeted by the rudest waitress we've ever encountered. Definitely a poor example of English Hospitality. This gorgeous area has plenty of amazing pubs and restaurants with super friendly service... Avoid this one

We visited 'the Duck' as it is known locally on 17th August for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. I had cheekily asked them to try and do something special on my emailed reservation and I was delighted that the message had got through to the waiting staff and kitchen. The food and wine was excellent. If you are on a self-catering... More

Visited the Drunken Duck last week for lunch having received glowing reports locally from fellow holiday makers so just had to give it a try. We were seated close to the restaurant and could see the food being prepared and ordered out. This is nice, but it does cause problems if you are sitting there as everybody else does the... More
