4 friends and our visited the restaurant one evening whilst on a 4 day break in the Lakes, the general consensus what that we all had a very good experience. We really enjoyed the bar area, felt like a comfortable, familiar pub with a great range of wine and local/other beers. Our food was excellent, I had the scallop starter... More

We visited the last weekend in November and had pre-booked our table, on arrivial we thought the staff was maybe a little tentative to be as 'friendly' as they normally would as we're a group of people in their low 20's, so maybe they don't get many people our age visiting for a meal?... They just seemed a little shocked... More

its a great spot and a lovely pub, just think they are becoming more and more complacent, as every time I go I'm less and less impressed. Our lunch at £28 for two is quite a lot for a quick 30 min stop off, food was good but £12 for a lunchtime sandwich is simply too much. The staff need... More

We went here for beer and sandwiches a couple of times during a recent trip to the Lakes and were so impressed. We tried a few different sandwiches (pork, roast beef, and aubergine and hummus) and were impressed by each. What really blew us away was the chips that came with the sandwiches - light, crispy and soft inside, perhaps... More

We really enjoyed our delicious lunch at the Drunken Duck. All of the dishes were tasty, the service was fabulous, and the decor was really great. We went back for seconds the next day! Highly recommended. Also, a lovely (though somewhat long) walk from Ambleside.

I used to be a fan of this institution. Things changed recently. Of late, its lost its charm for me and my friends/family. The food is limited in my opinion. One of us is veggie. If they didn't commend a unique location (and no competitors) I suspect they would have more critical customers like me. I hope they improve on... More

I recently visited The Drunken Duck in Ambleside after being advised by friends to seek it out; it having been named a great place to eat and drink. It is located a small walk from Ambleside itself, which is a pleasant trip in itself and worth making to build an appetite for the treats ahead. I note that there appears... More

We had a fantastic evening at the Drunken Duck for my husbands birthday. We had last visited a few years ago and wanted to give this another try and we were not disappointed. Everything was really great from the service, the gorgeous food, the perfect timing in between courses and then having our dessert in the bar so we could... More
