I cannot believe the patronising drivel written by so many people. We have never stayed there but our latest visit was marred by an insulting presentation of so called sandwiches wrapped in paper. No salad garnish or even a crisp just a pre packed ordinary sandwich for about £6. Last time iit was a £12 steak sandwich which was as... More

friendly barman who gave us good menu recomendations. Food came very quickly and was delicious. I recommend the Salt beef sandwich with sauerkraut, gherkins, Emmental, horseradish.. it was amazing. The decor inside is lovely and there are plenty of local ales on offer. Great place to eat

We called in for lunch on our way back home, the pub has its own brewery and I tried a pint of their stout which was excellent. I had the fava bean hommus and my wife went for the soup, both of which were very good. A cosy country pub, we'll call in again if we're in the area.

Lovely pub nestled in the countryside - great food and very pleasant service. Really lovely evening.

Booked a week ago and could only get a table for 6.45 on a Monday evening. Given this, the restaurant wasn't packed - there were a couple of tables empty. We loved it. Menu was small but varied. Our choices were all delicious. We had the scallops, celeriac soup and cheese soufflé for starters and the plaice, stone bass and... More

We arrived at 7pm when many tables were free (8+). We were rudely advised by the staff that we could not get a table that evening even though we were prepared to wait as they were not bothered to shuffle a table for us. We've heard the food is good. However the service was so disappointing We couldn't recommend it... More

As you cannot book at this establishment we arrived a bit before 12 on Saturday and had no trouble finding a table. Nice selection of interesting food to suit most choices on a small lunchtime menu. I had the saltbeef and coleslaw sandwich my partner had the hummus dish. Nicely prepared and quick service. Great ales some of which I'm... More

I have been a visitor, for lunch, to the "Duck" for years. I have always been impressed with the food. There is a good range of sandwiches. On our most recent visit we had a Honey roast ham and piccalilli sandwich and a Cheddar cheese and chutney sandwich. Both delicious. Recommended.

Enjoyed everything, nothing to complain about and must reserve a week prior to guarantee a table. Busy and a varied menu with daily specials. Price a little expensive but worth the expense.

Where shall I start? Considering that the prices are above average I thought the whole lunch was a disaster from start to finish. We walked in at about 3pm on a Monday afternoon. We sort of loitered around the bar area for a member of staff to take us to a table. When this didn't happen, although there was plenty... More
