A Diamond in the Fells

I opted to dine here after spotting it on one of my countryside drives, inspired by the incredible views. My mother and I attended at approximately 15.00 hrs, for the late lunch service. Upon arrival we knew it was worthy, merely because of the tasteful car collection in the car park. Nestled in... read more

I visited here with my mum and it is a bit of a tourist hotspot. We wanted a light lunch so I decided on a sandwich - it was beef on white bread. It arrived packaged beautifully in paper and was delicious - accompanied by crispy chips - definitely recommend a visit here.

We walked up the hill to the Drunken Duck from Pullwood House, where we are staying. This is a traditional pub with top quality food and wine. Each course was outstanding. Even though it is in the middle of nowhere it is lively and vibrant restaurant. A must visit place!!!!

Very nice place, worm and nice looking, just bit far from everywhere. They have one of the best beer i have ever had! Not huge choice of food, but when you decide to have something, its very tasty!

We only stopped off for lunch and a drink, it is a lovely pub (they also do accommodation), a bit on the expensive side but the food was excellent and there was a good selection of real ales. The views across the road are great although with it being situated on a cross roads sitting outside could be noisy and... More

A great pub in keeping with the surrounding countryside. The staff were informal and very friendly. A great selection of home brewed beers. It was quite expensive but well worth it as the food was undoubtedly some of the best food I have eaten in a restaurant.

The drunken duck was recommended by friends and helped to make our honeymoon special. The food was lovely and we were pleasantly surprised when saying we didn't drink wine to be offered the beer menu.

We were recommended to try this for lunch, and it was really good. There isn't a huge choice, but what there is really well done. The Sunday Roast Beef , and they only had beef on the day we visited was a perfect pink, the Yorkshire pudding fresh and crispy, the roast potatoes a crunchy perfection, and the vedge perfectly... I first came here 35 yrs ago... and only a few times since as it is tricky to find. Apparently it has had the same owner for 38 yrs! It seems to have evolved from being a true old country pub with tons of character into a more modern rather slick operation 'within' an old country pub. It has nice... More
