Charming

Lovely lunch in the Lakes District. Staff a bit stand offish upon entry, bar staff not very helpful but table staff were good. Cosy and warm inside on one of those rare sunny days here. Menu choice is fair and all items sounded nice. Two of us ordered the same thing but portion sizes were quite... read more

We visited half a dozen pubs in the Lake District and this was our favourite. Very comfortable atmosphere and an amazing modern kitchen. Ales produced onsite were excellent. Three of us agreed that the food was excellent. It is very busy, though. We arrived at 2 p.m. and had no trouble getting a table as many people were leaving then.... More

This was by far the best lunch I've had at a pub that I can remember. The sandwiches, the fries, the mezze platter were all delicious. Highly recommended. Just what you need after a long walk in the Lake District. You have to eat here if you are in the area! I guarantee you will be happy!

Lovely relaxing drink sitting looking at the stunning view. Yummy sandwich and recommend the chocolate brownie too.

Fab food service and wine. Beautiful location and building. Quaint yet stylish. Short taxi from the language estate.

Well, we had a most satisfactory long weekend at the Duck. Short version is, better to stay than to dine, though the latter is perfectly acceptable. Longer version... The setting is just glorious. It's high on an ancient(but quiet) crossroads above Ambleside and looks down the Langdale Valley. There are picnic tables that take full advantage of the view. And... More

Went here for lunch and the weather was beautiful with loads of people enjoying the seating out the front and looking at views. Really great service and decent food. Nothing too special but done very well!

Great range of drinks from its own brewery. Didn't stay this time but mthe rooms are great value and well furnished. It remains the best pub location in the lakes - at least for the pubs I have visited and i've been to a good few.

A great place to have lunch. We had been looking forward to eating here while on holiday having not made it last year. One dish i do love is fish chowder and seeing it on the menu i could not resist it and wow what a mighty fine fish chowder, i loved it. My wife had the ham hock pie... More

Myself and my husband went to the drunken duck while on our honeymoon in the Lake District,on first appearance the place looked very cosy and welcoming. We took a seat in candlelight and I was so looking forward to having our meal. However when lead to the table the waiter did not even ask me or my husband if we... More
