Stopped by here for some tea and milkshakes. We ordered 2 milkshakes which each cost almost £3. They were the worst we have ever had and every one of the five in our group found it unpalatable. When we ask for a chocolate shake it has to tast of chocolate and a bit sweet, it did neither. When I asked... More

Fab location on the edge of Windermere, sit on the terrace outside and watch the boats etc. Stopped here twice and enjoyed drinks and homemade pastries both times. My wife raved about the scones too.

I've been ripped off a few times in my life (40p for a ketchup sachet in Portmeirion rings a bell) but this afternoons experience of buying a simple ice cream cornet from this establishment really takes the biscuit. £1.80 for a cornet - fair enough £2.00 for a 99, equally fair, but 20p per ice cream for a squirt of... Hi there I'm so sorry you were charged for strawberry syrup .. We don't charge for this addition to our ice creams . The chap concerned must have been mistaken . Just goes to show you can't have a day off .... If you would like to pop back we will certainly refund your money and you can have a... More

You can't go to Ambleside without taking the time to sit and relax at Waterhead overlooking Lake Windermere and the Langdale Pikes, and the Waterhead Coffee Shop provides the ideal location to drink in both the view and the coffee, and at the same time forget the diet to enjoy delicious homemade scones or cake. As the sign says, there... More

When you see the sign advertising blueberry scones on this charming coffee shop, with seats on a porch overlookiing Lake Windermere, your first thought might be, like mine, that "This must be a tourist trap." But, the reviewer who wrote that these probably are the best blueberry scones in the world was right. I don't like scones, or at least... More

visited with our choc lab for scones and coffee, both of which were lovely. when asked if we could have some water for the dog the lady replied 'theres some outside'. i saw there was some outside but wanted fresh water for our dog, upon asking again some water was given but we were made to feel unwelcome.

Hi there Thank you for your positive remarks. I have to disagree with you when you say we are not dog lovers . I would have to say that we are probably one of the most dog friendly establishments in the area and always make our 4 legged customers very welcome . We provide 2 bowls of fresh water daily... We popped into the Waterhead Coffee Shop a couple of times whilst we were staying nearby. The second time we had the blueberry scones and they were gorgeous. Worth making a special trip for. We sat outside and basked in the sunshine as we drank our tea and read our books. Great place in a great setting.

We drove into Ambleside in search of coffee and cake, and found the best of both at the Waterhead Coffee Shop. A pretty, waterfront haven with an excellent selection of goodies, and a really good coffee. Everyone should go and experience a blueberry scone...they are truly amazing!
