After failing to book our evening meal and failing to get in our usual places we stumbled across Ambles. For a busy Saturday night it was very quiet. The décor screams rustic Italian, the menu says wanna be grill. We both had the ham described as oozing in honey, and indeed it was, but why ? It was all over... More

Came across this great restaurant after the kids had been to the cave at Marmot. The 3 course is great value fir money my girls 8 and 10 enjoyed the Salmon and Chicken for main course. Good portions and they ate the lot! This came with fresh veg and new spuds, plenty for all. For desert it was sticky toffee... More

This eating establishment lacked atmosphere unfortunately. It seemed more like a cafe rather than a restaurant, (if it serves as a cafe during the day more could be done to up the ante during the evening to help it make the grade as a restaurant), I cannot describe the prawn cocktail and garlic butter chicken as anything other than ordinary... Found this restaurant as walking up the main street. Loved the menu it had a excellent range of prices and wines. starter good, lamb chops were brilliant with red wine sauce as a main meal. Dessert was also good the sticky toffee pudding was served with cream and ice-cream had with nicely priced bottle of house merlot. The staff looked... More

Ate here twice in a week. A good menu, with an emphasis on fresh vegetables with potatoes rather than chips. Beautifully cooked food, and friendly and quick service. A slight moan, a table for 2 can only just accommodate plates, serving dish and glasses, a tiny bit squashed, but this cannot detract from the food.

Great food, fast service, small tables. Not much to look at from the outside, and lacking a bit of atmosphere inside, but great food & fast service made up for it.

I understand these guys have been doing this for the better part of 25 years. Family business - looks like he cooks and she is front of house. Very friendly and assured, reasonably priced no nonsense, largely traditional English style home cooking.

Had a really good meal here at the Ambles Brasserie. There was a decent menu to choose from plus a special of the day.Nice selection of starters and sweets. Three of us did have the special which was double lamb chops in a red wine sauce with seasonal vegatables and our fourth diner had the grilled salmon. The food was... More
