Cosy and homely place with delicious cake and hot drinks. The cake tasting platter was divine - with the pear and almond cake stealing the show! Perfect after a weekend walk.

A return visit to the Rattle Gill and it hasn't disappointed. As it was a birthday day out we decided to go for a real blow out. My partner had the chilli which came with just the right kick. It was served with a lovely bread, some cheese to sprinkle over. I had the quiche of the day which was... More

Lovely cosy cafe with warm and friendly staff. The cream tea and cakes were amazing and the menu has lots of great choices, we will be visiting again.

Stopped for lunch after a long walk requiring good wholesome food. Had the black bean wraps and the girls had quiche salad and broc and Stilton soup. Food excellent quality lovely small quaint surroundings with engaging staff. Will be sure to visit again

Almost truly a "hidden gem". The Rattle Gill veggie cafe is ABSOLUTELY worth hunting out. Away from the Ambleside's bustling mainstream tea & coffee shops this modest unfussy place, on a tiny backstreet, sits beside a cascading stream (or as Cumbrians say 'gill') rattling its way downwards. 6 or 7 tiny tables...perhaps 2 outside (weather permitting). Lovely atmosphere...newspapers...friendliness abounds (owners... More

Enjoyed a lovely selection of cakes at the suggestion of husband- he was totally impressed with the flapjack and I loved the scone with cream and delicious jam. Warm and cosy on a grey day and well worth a visit. All the food looked great.

Tried this place after reading reviews on here and was not disappointed. Small but cosy café with a lovely atmosphere. Serves fresh, home cooked food at good prices and great service too. I hoped to try the cake platter but unfortunately couldn't fit anything else in after the lovely soup, so I'll definitely be making a return visit next time... More
