What a find!

Cannot believe my luck in finding this amazing little cafe. We were a mixed bunch, one vegatarian, one vegan, a pescetarian and an omnivour and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had a wonderful vegan dipping platter, my niece had the veg dipping platter. We also had the soup and paninis and we... read more

What a find. Ambient little cafe up rickety back street. Serves wholesome vegetarian food with sophisticated but sensible flavour at a good price. We would recommend the chilli and the spinach and ricotta pie. Both were good portions with great flavours. We will be back every time we are in Ambleside.

The Rattle Gill Café serves good vegetarian food in generous portions, filled with flavour. The jacket potato with chilli was delicious and looked amazing. The soup, a carrot and coriander soup, was lovely and the bread and cheese beside made it a great lunch. We have visited before and have always found the food to be of great taste and... More

For me, there are three "must-do's" when visiting Ambleside, and tea at The Rattle Gill cafe is one of them. Afternoon tea for two (scone, butter, cream & jam + pot of tea) was a perfect refresher after our walk. It's out of the hustle & bustle, great view over the gill.

I was absolutely thrilled to see that Ambleside had a veggie cafe, let alone one ranked number one on tripadvisor! However maybe all my expectation was too much. I'm vegan and am always slightly annoyed that some veggie places don't identify what's vegan on the menu, you can just ask, no big deal, but a tad annoying. I ordered a... More

Stopped here for lunch last week and even though we're not vegetarian, the menu had loads of great dishes. Had one of the best paninis ever and you get a gorgeous mixed salad with it. Veggie chilli also fantastic. Reasonably priced, fantastic quality and good service.

A fantastic wee cafe. Delicious tasting plate of cakes and great laid back atmosphere. Perfect after a long walk in the hills.

We found The Rattle Gill by accident when looking for somewhere to shelter from the rain. Once inside we decided that we would eat as well as have a quick drink. The cafe is small but that's what makes it cosy and home like. My boyfriend had the home made soup and a sandwich, whilst I settled for a baked... More

We popped into Rattle Gill for an early lunch today, and we were so satisfied we are planning to go back tomorrow. The dipping / sharing platter of ciabatta, olive oil and balsamic dip, black+green olives, roasted Mediterranean vegetables and beans (thoughtfully offered in place of feta as we're vegans) hit the spot! Heavenly. The dip was inspired, the ciabatta... More

My favourite place to go in Ambleside, although I may be biased as a veggie!! Delicious home-cooked vegetarian food and a lovely, super-chilled atmosphere with friendly owners who make you feel at home. Bring my daughter here regularly for their amazing homemade cakes too! Would recommend getting in early during the Summer as its a popular one for the tourist... More
