Best chocolate brownie ever and the date and cinnamon flapjack was amazing. The staff are very friendly. It was a welcome refuge ftom the snow.

We visit Ambleside at least once a year. Three times in 2014 and we always make time to visit Rattlegill. The food is packed with flavour and never disappoints! The service is great. The cake platter to share is a must! It's small and busy (not surprisingly) but if you spot an empty table or come in quieter times, grab a... More

We stumbled upon this eatery in the rain. Very cosy atmosphere felt like a little haven from the bad weather. Didn't realise it was vegetarian food until we saw the menu. I suspect lots of people know about this cafe for that reason alone, but we were just looking for anything tasty and hot. Chose chilli dishes with huge hunks... More

Found this place on trip advisor so thought we'd give it a go on a quick stop in Ambleside. I've eaten in a lot of places in Ambleside being fairly local and most disappoint with the usual tourist fare but this was not like that. It's a small cafe full of character and has a lovely warm and welcoming feeling,... More

Walking through Ambleside, a little pathway took us next to the river and a small cafe that was a great surprise. Recommend the carrot and satay soup, and the chilli vegie stew. Cakes looked and sounded great, but too full to try! A great place for relaxing and enjoying.

Small cafe close to the centre of Ambleside but tucked away. There are a couple of signs for it by the main road so no difficulty in finding it. We'd already had a large breakfast so we only called in for a tea and light snack. On perusing the menu I wished I hadn't eaten earlier as there were some very... More

Delicious vegetarian food and cakes that are really tasty and substantial, served by charming young waiter/chefs, all in a really pretty location. The perfect place for lunch or tea after a lakeland ramble or wander round the town. This place is a little gem. Even if you're not a veggie the food won't disappoint. Very reasonably priced too.

I've been going to the lakes for 60 years - my son recommended this place to me. Its tiny and just off the main road through Ambleside. Run by lovely people - veggie cuisine but don't let that put you off if your not a veggie. The food is excellent - a bowl of their homemade soup and a couple... More

Sat outside on a nice November day with my friend. The lady who served us was extremely helpful and fun.. She recommended the lentil Dahl and that is what we had... It was absolutely gorgeous!! We sat listening to the river run by while we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. Would definitely return

what a delight to find this tucked away, vast choice of home made cakes available i am guessing the owner (cake maker anyhow) couldn't have been more helpful. We aren't vegetarian but the food was lovely didn't even twig it was a veggie restaurant plenty of choice for all.
