Fabulous Home Made Food

What a treasure of a find. A small welcoming cafe with delicious food. We went on Wednesday 17th June I had a homemade pasty and salad and my husband had the roast tomato soup. He said it was the best he had tasted (a bit of a disappointment to me). It was all fresh and tasty and we were made... read more

The café is tiny but well run, they had lots of cakes on offer but only one of those was vegan, the cinnamon flapjack. The flapjack was tasty but I would have preferred a choice maybe a vegan sponge? Stewart had the vegetarian huomous with ciabatta, olives, feta & roasted veg., whilst Phil had the toasted teacake with butter and... More

Absolutely fabulous. Called for cakes and Earl Grey . Had selection of cakes all of which were delicious home baked by Clare the proprietor. Small cafe but very warm welcome and excellent service. Both Clare and husband Alec obviously really enjoy providing an excellent service.

We visited on Saturday 13th June with 2 friends, one has food allergies, one is veggie. I'm not veggie but enjoyed the toastie with feta. Lots of cakes to choose from even for the friends who only eat gluten free. Try the chocolate cake - heaven We called again on Sunday with 4 different friends and their 3 dogs, all... More

Tucked away in a little square by the waterwheel in Ambleside is this gem of a vegetarian cafe. Food was delicious (try the Taster Plate if you can't decide what cake to have!) and the owners were friendly and welcoming. Well-behaved dogs welcomed too! So good that we returned again the following day. A lovely place to meet friends, enjoy... More

The food is of high quality, it's a rare to find a vegetarian establishment like this one, it has a great menu choice and a fair pricing strategy. Service was excellent, friendly and catered well for fussy eaters. A really cute place and a nice cosy feel, made our lunch very satisfying.

We went here for our lunch as we read about it on here and thought we would try it ... I got soup of the day which was sweet pepper and sweet potato chowder. It came with some crusty bread and butter and cheese .., it's one of the soups I have ever had .. My partner had the chilli... More

We visited Rattle Gill a couple of days ago for a light snack. Very friendly staff/owners and a tasty salad, we kept meaning to return for the delicious looking cakes. Genuinely amusing cards are also for sale, created by Alec, who works at the cafe. Great find and definitely worth a visit.

First trip here today and am now gutted I didn't go sooner! Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and really benefiting from doing a few things well rather than trying to be all things to all people. Great sandwiches, soup, homemade cakes etc. Will be back very soon 😊

Definitely the best vegetarian food in the area and probably just the best food, lovely laid back friendly place, big portions of delicious food. Not always open so avoid a disappointing trip up the alley way and make sure you know when it's open. Not many tables so may have to keep popping back to find a space but well... More
