Not bad, just not stand out. There was an obligatory hair in my curry, but aside from that, there was nothing wrong with anything, I've clearly just got high expectations.

Whilst the rest of the family enjoyed the meal. Both the Tandoori Duck starter and mixed Tandoori main course were undoubtedly burnt. The service was also unattentive, overall a disappointng experience. I would never return which is a shame as it is the only Indian I could find in Ambleside and I a lover of Indian food.

We ate at the spice of Bengal as it was the only place still open in Ambleside we could find. In fairness the food was fine- not the best curry I have had but not the worst. The off putting thing is definitely the fact the restaurant is really run down. The toilet was dirty and the carpets were filthy.... More

We love eating out at Indian restaurants, and so we decided to try this restaurant while we were enjoying a weekend away in Ambleside. We ordered a starter to share which was lovely! Then we each had a curry both of these were really nice. There was a very relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant. We would definitely come back here:)

On arriving in Ambleside on the 4th April the family had decided that after a bimble around and a couple of pints we would settle into the cottage with a takeaway in front of Saturday night TV. The menus that were left for us in the cottage were out of date and the numbers did not work. However after a... More

We went in looking for some simple, tasty curry for a takeaway at a reasonable price and Spice of Bengal delivered perfectly, with lovely service to boot. I can't comment on any of the more adventurous or eat-in options, but I'm sure these could be good as well.

Decided to give it a try, as it was a cold night and not far from our hotel. We ordered only a main course and a nan bread each, 60 mins later it arrived. We both found the food luke warm and the sauce very sweet. Maybe we are use to midland size nan, but the nans were very small.... More

Great food and beer. Eat here you will not be disappointed! We had starters (Sheek kebab was fantastic) and mains of Chicken Tikka Danzak and a Chef's Special. Rates up there in terms of Indian Food (and I used to live in Birmingham so have tried a few!!)

The service here was good and so was the food. Hit the spot on our rainy night of arrival. Well priced.

Visited here on a Saturday evening. The meal was quite nice, good portions and my Dupiaza sauce tasted very good, if I was being picky the chicken probably lacked a bit of flavour, perhaps next time I would either go for tikka chicken as my wife reckoned that her tikka dish was quite spicy, or I may try the lamb....
