I'm a huge fan of Asian cuisine. Have eaten many home cooked and restaurant Asian meals. Spice of Bengal is officially the worst place I have eaten at so far!! Food = Completely bland - Tasteless Ambience = Awful! Very loud music! Service = Requires Improvement If you want a curry better than this place I would recommend an MnS... More

I have been to this restaurant before and food is generally good, but you do have to wait, which is ok if it it is good. I have been recently the service was appalling, the waiter literally threw our meals at us with no regard as who's meal was who's after an hour and fifteen mins. Not good. Will not... More

we have used this restaurant for Indian takeout this week. The meal was pleasant enough and average price for takeway but distinctly lacking in the flavour we are used from our favourites at home (Liverpool). The meat was cooked nicely and was not chewy or tough at all but the sauces on the lamb rogan josh and the chicken bhuna... More

Very friendly quick service, all favourites and some new ones, well cooked, good vegetarian choice. Fish cakes were very nice, onion bajiis delicately cooked and tasty. Butter chicken very tasty and well marinated and tender. Breads fresh and tasty. They undercharged us for drinks and when we pointed it out the manager let us off for our honesty. Well above... More

Think of every side salad you've ever had in an Indian restaurant. It shredded iceberg lettuce, a slide of cucumber and a slice of tomato, yes? The fact our side salad had radicchio, grated carrot and rocket in it was our first indicator that Spice of Bengal is a cut above the rest. The food was excellent and well cooked.... More

The staff were very friendly and the service was certainly quick. We ordered a main course and a starter. The starter was tasty but the portions were not great (ie on the small size). Sadly the draft Kingfisher Lager was lukewarm. I would however try again as it was only my first visit.

Dined here early one evening. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was lovely - Masala was the nicest I've ever had. Good value for money and would eat here again.

Went here on Saturday night, service was fine, food was really good, I had the Garlic chicken, my wife her usual chicken Tikka, both really tasty, good value for money, if in Ambleside and you like curry then pay a visit.

Food was good quality but there really was not a lot of it (great for dieters). Asked and charged for 8 poppadoms, only got 5 (for 4 people). Waiter started clearing table whilst a friend was still eating, he actually waited for his plate - terrible. Lacked ambience. Would I return? In good X-Factor style, it's a no from me.....

We stayed in Ambleside in a cottage in August 2013 the 2 kids fancyed a take away one night so we called the Bengal up. We had never had food from here before but the quality was good to say we went and had a sit down meal later that week.
