Good for: Dining on a budget

Description: The staff told us that they had been open since the beginning of June - so relatively new. The food is an interesting (and successful) evolution based on the French tartine with excellent toppings and side dishes.

Have eaten at Dame Tartine on a few occasions for lunch. The food was very good, with a variety of choice and very reasonably priced. I always found the staff friendly, polite and helpful. was really surprised to see that it had closed as it always seemed busy - would have definitely recomended it.

Really sad to see DT has gone to be replaced by a 'Bills of Lewes' - always got the sense that the premises was too big, maybe they'll do better in a smaller venue?

This restaurant has now closed. Pity as it was a nice place and very central. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was authentic.

This was our first visit to Dame Tartine and we called in for lunch . We both had a tartine and this come with 2 sides and free drinks ie soft drink or a glass of wine or beer for just £9.95. I think this is excellent value for money. All the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The restaurant... More

We dined here on a Tuesday evening and were pleasantly surprised by the 50% off your food offer. OK the prices on the Tuesday menu were a little higher than on the main menu but it still made for an economical night out. We started with the charcuterie and the smoked fish starters. Good sized portions and high quality meat... More

We visited in November 2013 for a quiet birthday evening meal. The place was crammed full and the staff were rushed off their feet, so service took a little while to get started, although to be expected with the amount of people..The food cannot be faulted, I had the Brie starter which was beautiful, followed by the pancakes for main.... We have visited this restaurant on many occasions - mainly for coffee but have also had lunch and dinner. Lunch is reasonably priced and the tartines make a change from the usual food on offer at other establishments.
