So quirky you gotta love it!

The tearoom is on the bottom of an old lighthouse. There is a small inner yard to sit and lots of space outside. Inside are two rooms with chairs and tables and one to make orders. Cream tea comes (loose leaf) in an old fashioned tea pot with pretty, vintage cups and saucers. Two generous scones, clotted cream and jam can be consumed while listening to old 78s. Perfect refuelling before the windy, cliff top walk back to Dover. An excellent place to bring foreign visitors for a taste of 20th century England.

Have visited this tearoom many times. and it never fails to please. Today I took 2 friends who live locally but had never visited before as they never knew of its existence! They loved it and thought it was a great place . Cheery staff. Glorious cakes . Fabulous.

The actual tea rooms looked good but the pantry where food was bought, was cramped, there were few prices and eventually when about to be served I realised most cakes had some sort of nut on them so went outside and bought an ice cream instead!

Hi and thank you for your feedback. In regards to your comment about the kitchen being cramped it is an unfortunate downside to working in a beautiful grade 2 listed property. All we can do to minimise the problem is to try and get customers to queue single file which doesn't always work especially with families who all want to... More

Aside from what must be the best view of France from the UK on a sunny day, the quaint lighthouse and the lovely interior... the great scones. What really made my experience was the extremely attentive and friendly service I received. Greeted with jolly laughter, a great selection of food and a flexibility rarely found today this little place really... More

This is a really lovely spot - perhaps, because you have to walk for 45 minutes, to get there, it still remains a classical tea-room, where you can get a cream tea with scones at affordable price. You have to ask for your tea at the self service - which is understandable, because a waitress would take to much place... More

Hi. We visit the tearooms every week and cannot send sufficient enough praise for the team who serve us in such a wonderful setting and with such humour and efficiency. Well done

Went at 1630 after a very busy bank holiday and sat down at a table. No signs to say it's counter service, so we sat for 20 minutes waiting for something to happen. Eventually went and found a waitress who rather less than politely told us is was self service. Stayed till about 1715, when they turned off the George... More

Hi and thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you had to wait that long, normally if we see people sit down without coming to the counter first we would invite them to come into the kitchen. Unfortunately as it was a very busy in fact our busiest bank holiday ever it is possible that we... More

Not bad but not too good either.Loose leaf tea----no complaints. Cakes were ok ish. Had terrible baugettes in the past. Self service not a good point and one of the ladies behind the counter could be grumpy for England. The stand out feature is that the tea room is in the fantastic Victorian South Foreland lighthouse. Go for the views... More

Being within the lighthouse makes this special. One the day we were there it was very busy with a queue outside the door. We had tea/coffee and a snack. Very nice.
