This is a typical English pub, so if you want to experience that you should pay it a visit. The food is good, the fish and chips were great, sausages and mash not so much, but beer and desserts are also pretty good. The prices are normal and the atmosphere very much like in a pub. The place is also... More

Typical English pub. The food is definitely cheap, and for that price more than ok! The pub is popular with both locals and tourists, and is a good place to eat while waiting for the ferry. You have to order at the bar, with quick service, so ideal if you are in a hurry.

My wife and I had lunch at the 8 Bells in Cannon Street Dover. Part of the JD Wetherspoon empire offering a good selection of beers and good food at attractive prices. We were not disappointed!!! We both decided upon 'Meal Deals' whereby a drink is included in the menu price. My good lady decided upon the flaked salmon salad... More

Ate dinner here on a Thursday night in June. The fish & chips were good. The staff was friendly. We ate on the outside front patio, which started out nice, but was soon filled with a number of dirty, unshaven old coots who were smoking up a storm and ruined our dinner. Next time will find somewhere else to eat in Dover.

My husband and I loved all of our meals at the chain of Wetherspoon pubs where we ate during our trip to England. The Eight Bells Pub was no exception. We love their ribs, pies and salads.

It's weatherspoon's, so you know what you are getting. Being Dover it has its regular customers / drunks but they always seem to be close to the door (this may be so they can get across the street to the bookies) so if you get a table in the family section at the back its not too bad..

The restaurant's specials are a bargain for travelers. Food is quite expensive in England but you can get a very satisfying meal with a drink (alcohol or beer included) for 6-8 pounds. It's a bit noisy, very popular with the young crowd but worth a stop.

Has the usual pub grub, well prepared. Main point of difference is the specials. Getting a free pint with a meal that's already cheap is great value. Well done.

Okay so its not five star dining, but what you can expect is polite, decent staff, good food and excellent value for money.
