Description: We hope you're feeling hungry... Look forward to robust, fresh flavors served with imagination and flair in east Kent's newest contemporary restaurant. Our Head Chef presides over heavenly menus that change regularly and use locally caught fish and locally sourced produce. The wine, beer and drinks list is also top notch. Old school... New World... Kent wines from Kent vineyards... Local real ales... Great taste is everything at the Marquis.

Although in theory a simple thing to do well the reality is that afternoon tea sometimes is over-hyped and over-exercises the ability of chefs leading to a disappointing experience. Not so the Marquis, my wife and I had a voucher for the Marquis and unlike some establishments we were treated equally with the paying guests, the location on a sunny... More

Popped in here for lunch. We've known this place since is was a very average village pub. It's now a lovely, contemporary restaurant which boasts 3 AA rosettes. Just 2 items on the menu - trout or chicken, similarly either or choices for starts and desserts. No problem with that though as it does help to ensure quality and keep... More

We booked a night at the The Marquis at Alkham as a stopover on our way home from France. Our room was comfortable, tastefully furnished, decorated and well equipped. Some nice toiletries were provided as well as a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and milk. Our meal was as expected from the better reviews. From the delicious amuse bouches served... More

At the recommendation of our hosts at Alkhanm Court, we had a wonderful supper at The Marquis. Great food, attentive service. It was a very pleasant evening.

First of all may I say that I believe this to be some of the best food that we have every consumed in an English restaurant so well done to the owners. Customer service was impeccable and whilst some of the prices were not what I was expecting, none the less the reflection of the value was in the pudding... More

We went for lunch - interesting set menu which only had two choices, but not bad for the price. Food was well presented, staff attentive. Three of us dined, the wine cost more than the set meal! - interesting.

Friday lunch - set menu, only two choices for each course. Apparently this is the case Mon-Sat lunch. Frankly it's cheap - £15.50 for three courses but and this is a big but, the portions are tiny. I do not have a big appetite yet after three courses I left hungry. I commented to my husband that his duck starter... More

Visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening with my 2 girlfriends. The cocktails were of reasonable value as was the food. There were about 5 main courses to choose from on the A La Carte dining menu. I chose Wild Sea Bass, courgette flower with langoustine mousse, squid ink macaroon, avruga caviarcame. It came beautifully presented and the individual tastes... More

Some like it rowdy, sum like a buzz, I like it quiet. Whatever your prefernece, if the atmosphere is great but the food not so, then the outing is a failure ! We have not been to the Marquis for some years, but needed a special place in the Folkestone area now the Sandbanks has been taken out of play... More
