This is the type of fake high class restaurant that overprices their food and service offering nothing in return. The menu lacks just about everything but large price tags. The food is basic. The etiquette is awful. Women are told they must take off their hats when it is proper etiquette to allow women to keep their hats on. I... More

We were looking forward to an evening of high cuisine but were left a little underwhelmed. We were of the understanding that it was a Michelin establishment and so expected well balanced exquisite food. The starter of ham hock was small with an apple jelly that was very harsh. The mains were good but nothing more and the chocolate mousse... More

I booked this restaurant thinking it was still Michael Caine's as stated on the website no,one told me otherwise. Food was well cooked and service was attentive but the menu disappoints, no beef or chicken, only pork as red meat. My wife and I struggled to find a dish we fancied, so just ended up with the main course, which... More

My wife and I decided to try Michael caines Resturant at Abode for dinner. The food was wonderful and the staff tried hard. Obviously the staff were not trained as well as you would expect for this quality of Resturant but all went well. Our starters were fantastic. Our mains were very good. Which is often the let down of... More

Staying with friends in Kent for the Canterbury Festival we were delighted to be told that we would be enjoying a pre-theatre special deal meal at one of the Michael Caines restaurants. That was the only thing wrong with the evening - the misinformation re M Caines. Other than that - wow! Quite, quite delicious, inventive, beautifully cooked and, certainly... More

We booked a table here for an evening during the Canterbury Festival. The festival guide told us we could have a two course meal for £12.95 courtesy of Michael Caine and gave the address as aBode, 30-33 High Street Canterbury and asked that we contact the restaurant directly for further information on booking terms and conditions, particularly at the weekend.... We ate here as part of the autumn deal that was offered at the Abode. We were overwhelmed by the quality of food and the service that we received on the set menu. We had beautiful samplers, bread starters, main course and even pudding from a superb menu! The portion sizes were perfect for us to be able to taste... More

I enjoyed the most wonderful meal in the County Restaurant at the Abode Hotel, Canterbury last Saturday. There was the highest level of attention to detail to everything. The waiting staff were extremely attentive and polite, always there at the right time to top up my champagne glass!! The duck liver starter was melt in the mouth and the main... More

Absolutely no faults to be found. Food perfect, wine perfect, staff were very very professional whilst maintaining a friendly welcoming ambience, gentle background music which enhanced the experience. I did like the no mobile phones rule....no interruptions with mine or other guests phones beeping! Food was 100%, packed with flavour, food was explained by waiter as it was delivered to... More

Stayed at the hotel so had booked a table for dinner. We were under the impression that Michael Caine's was still the chef in charge but learnt that he had left and taken his name off the restaurant . Very quiet only two or three tables were eating so little atmosphere . The food was simple and quite tasty ,... More
