Fit for a bishop

The former County Hotel set in the heart of Canterbury has been updated and is a great place to stop if you want a city center hotel with some parking. The staff are very friendly from the moment you arrive to departure. Breakfasts are to a high standard and both the restaurant and the nearby... read more

We booked the pre theatre menu as we were going to the Marlowe. I even confirmed with the waitress (who was lovely throughout) when we got there that we had to be in our seats at 7.30 (it was 5.45 when we got there). After an hour and forty minutes we had been served one course, we had to cancel... More

Nice dining area, well decorated, a combination of old and modern styles. The cellar is behind glass panes which highlight it well. We went for a 3-course dinner and tried a variety of courses between the 4 of us. All dishes were well seasoned, with balanced sauces and interesting flavours. The opinions were a bit mixed when it came to... More

Excellent restaurant with very good food and service located in the ABode hotel. The atmosphere was wonderful and you did not feel this was a hotel.

We visited Abode restaurant some 3years ago for the first time. We loved it. Went back some year later and were rather disappointed. Since then it picked up again, and we tried it again in May 2015. The taster menu with wine. We couldnt fault it on any of the courses or wines. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

We visited Abode for my girlfriend's graduation meal, and what a wonderful experience it was. All the food was delicious, the wine was nice and the staff were very attentive. We had three courses each and every course was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We tried a Michelin-starred restaurant and this was well on the way to being that good.... More

We had heard a lot about the Abode and decided to treat ourselves after a long awaited shopping spree. We were warmly greeted and seated. I would say the seating isn't the most comfortable as the tables are a bit low. We didn't have to wait long to place our order 2 traditional afternoon teas. We were asked if we... More

After having drinks in the bar to start we were shown through to the restaurant. As we sat we were offered water and given the menus and wine list. Starters were great, mix of flavour and all worked great. As theme final plate was put down each plate was explained to us. For the mains I had the pork, so... More

Spontaneous family lunch trip whilst shopping and visiting the area. Lovely for a girly smart lunch or business lunch. Wonderful food & wine, clean, Very efficient staff. Good choice of menu. Would love to stay over - perhaps on another trip to Canterbury.
