Excellent food

Ate there as part of a stay and eat deal. Tasty food, though perhaps could have been larger portions.

We had the pre theatre meal, which seems like excellent value, but I do somewhat agree with a previous reviewer. By the time you add the wine, water, bread, coffee and one side dish, the bill wasn't far off £90! The food was excellent, and whilst I recognise it's fine dining, it was incredibly small.

We walked in off the street having seen the two course pre-theatre menu although we weren't going to the theatre. We were made very welcome and a table for five quickly prepared. The food was in the master chef category. A complimentary starter of a cup of soup was served - delicious. The feather blade of beef was full of... More

After reading the previous review was a bit apprehensive as had booked a table for two to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. What a lovely evening we had! We were well looked after by friendly staff and the food we ordered was definitely a cut above the majority of places in Canterbury. Knowing that portion sizes weren't going to be... More

Not a Michael Caine although website still says it is. Absolutely hate restaurants that charge for bread £2 sides £3.50 Dinner cost £95 for my husband and I to have a 2 course meal, he had a glass of house red £8.50 and as I was driving I ordered sparkling water £4.50 then there was the service charge of 12%... There are very few fine dining venues within Canterbury City Centre and it nice to find that even though the restaurant at the Abode Hotel had changed its name to the 'County Restaurant'. The quality of food and service was still up to its former standards. I can heartily recommend the taster menu and it was nice to note that... More

Me and my husband have been here on a number of occasions and have found the last 2 times its been a bit quiet and lacking atmosphere! Also on many occasions the staff seem to be just standing around doing nothing and looking bored however everything we come the food doesn't dissapoint.

I have visited the restaurant a few times, but my most recent experience was not great. I went with a group a friends, we had pre-booked two weeks in advance and we told last minute we had to also pre-order our food too. In the one or two days prior to our meal it was communicated to us that not... More

Eaten here a number of times and the food has always been excellent, and beautifully presented, as has the service and advice about wines. The downside is the fact that it is a hotel restaurant and the dining area is very bright and lacking atmosphere.

We took our son to Abode for his 21st birthday and can't rate the meal and service highly enough. There were 5 of us and we all had wonderful meals, absolutely stunning and probably one of the best meals we have experienced. We will definitely be returning. The lovely touch at the end of the meal for our son was... More
