County Restaurant at the Abode Hotel Canterbury - Excellent fine dining

Me and my husband have been here on a number of occasions and have found the last 2 times its been a bit quiet and lacking atmosphere! Also on many occasions the staff seem to be just standing around doing nothing and looking bored however everything we come the food doesn't dissapoint.

I have visited the restaurant a few times, but my most recent experience was not great. I went with a group a friends, we had pre-booked two weeks in advance and we told last minute we had to also pre-order our food too. In the one or two days prior to our meal it was communicated to us that not... More

Eaten here a number of times and the food has always been excellent, and beautifully presented, as has the service and advice about wines. The downside is the fact that it is a hotel restaurant and the dining area is very bright and lacking atmosphere.

We took our son to Abode for his 21st birthday and can't rate the meal and service highly enough. There were 5 of us and we all had wonderful meals, absolutely stunning and probably one of the best meals we have experienced. We will definitely be returning. The lovely touch at the end of the meal for our son was... More

Went to the abode for my 21st birthday. Food was modern, beautifully cooked and the presentation was stunning. Service was excellent. The food really was faultless from start to finish! Cannot recommend enough.

Called in Abode for lunch. Pure chance, just looking for somewhere to eat and the menu by the door looked good. The restaurant was empty when we arrived which didn't bode well but the room was nice and the maitre'd welcoming. The menu was limited which is always a good sign (long menus = big freezer!) and well thought out.... More

We had an hour before the Marlowe theatre and decided to give their pre-theatre menu a try as it seemed very reasonable at £12.95 for 2 courses. and close to the theatre. This is about the same price or even less than the local pub. But this was much better than pub food. We were very impressed with the service,... More

My friend and I booked afternoon tea about 2 weeks in advance. We were seated in the lounge at the front of the hotel, which was warm and cozy with a lovely fire going. We were happy to be seated next to the fire as we were freezing! We each ordered tea, which came quite quickly. Our 2 tier stand... More

Pricey but very very good. Service is excellent, food served with style and panache. Great wine list. We have eaten in some good restaurants, this one was no exception. Would willingly eat there again.
