My family took me here for my birthday. Food was excellent and the portions generous. We enjoyed the setting and the service was friendly and attentive. One quibble - I thought the wine we had was rather overpriced.

We love this restaurant and have never been disappointed! I would however say it seems better in the evening than at lunch time, not sure if there are different chefs! We always go as a family and they are very accommodating with the children. There is no children's menu but the are happy to adapt any dishes and my children... More

Three friends and the two of us had a late supper after a wonderful concert in the cathedral. Rafael's is one of our favourite haunts and it is getting better and better and better. My wife and one friend had skate wing, another friend had duck and the 8 year old had specially made mash and sausage (Rafael doesn't feel... More

i wanted to love this place; the venue at lunchtime has an appealing buzz, and the food for sale in the market place is of high quality. Unfortunately the restaurant is a bit of a let down - my hake & mussel "leek chowder" was dry and rather tasteless. My husband's pigeon breasts with chorizo was also overdone and dry.... More

Located in the old goods shed by Canterbury West Station. A ten minute walk from the Cathedral. One of the best Lemon Soles I've ever had - steaming, plump and flaky. Ox cheek full of flavour. Good, sensible cooking carefully prepared. Fresh ingredients from the adjacent market. Tables large and set well apart for privacy. Staff courteous and attentive. One... More

We came here for dinner, so unfortunately the stalls were already closed. Rafael's Restaurant was not fully occupied but atmosphere was warm and cozy, the service welcoming and competent, and always willing to give us recommendation on food and drinks. We had some Cider and Kir Royal for aperitif, and ordered nearly all starters to share between 5 : olives,... More

The good shed used to be the place I would go for a treat. The food is not cheap , but in the past I had felt it was so worth it. I have now moved out of Kent and I had ranted and raved to my boyfriend about how I love it there and that we wouldn't be disappointed.... More

Was wonderfully surprised to discover this place in canterbury. Maybe a litttle pricy but very nice tasty food in suitably 'right' surroundings. Enjoyed our lunch thoroughly. As did my 'chef' boyfriend. Ate mackrel , pigeon, brocolli and blue cheese pie, and ranger chicken.

We went here for dinner and breakfast several times. Never disappointed. Something for everyone (great vegetarian platter!) and good service. All reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Read in a guide book the Goods Shed was a place to check out, and ended up deciding to eat at Rafael's (which is within it). My dinner was so incredibly delicious, I had to wipe the sauce off the plate with the remaining bread. It was fresh and light, while still having incredible depth of flavor. I was there... More
