Annual christmas dinner with friends. Obviously convenient for travelling into Canterbury West by train. Restaurant shares space with market garden and has 'rustic' charm. Food is simply cooked and very good. Starter of Rabbit Terrine was excellent. Parsnip and Pear soup was also very good. Main of halibut was very good and well cooked. Ox Cheeks were popular with our... More

The daily changing lunch menu at 'Raf's' was a hit on a recent visit to The Goods Shed with friends. I had a simple but tasty starter of sardines on toast with gremolata followed by a tranche of turbot, crab & saffron. For pudding, I had a piece of rather dry lardy cake with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream.... More

Called in for Sunday lunch when visiting Canterbury on the back of a mention in the BBC Good Food magazine. All really enjoyed the food - especially the vegetarian options. Good atmosphere (in the midst of the food stalls) and friendly service. Nice to browse the food stalls after lunch too! When next in Canterbury we hope to visit again

Definitely to be experienced. Ate here recently and the food was good, wholesome local produce. By evening a quirky eateries and by day an amazing food hall. Fantastic produce...fish, meat, poultry, charcuterie, cheese, vegetables etc etc Situated next to Canterbury railway station and within easy walking distance of the historic city centre. Absolutely worth a visit. So different - go... More

We had to wait for a table for Sunday breakfast. The lady was helpful, pleasant, nice and seated my group of 5 about 10 min later. Then a different waitress was very rude and abrupt. She came to take the order and couldn't be bothered to even look us. I gave her my order and she was away with fairys.... More

Loved the relaxed atmosphere, the breakfast was tasty, the service wonderful. The ambiance was very nice. Only one less positive comment; the price of the drinks in particular the cappuccino; small glass not great and expensive. All in all a great morning spent here.

This was our second visit to Rafael's. The combination of a fine dining restaurant inside a renovated train platform and quaint food stalls and shops all around is a winning recipe. The menu changes along with the seasons and satisfies the curious traveler. The only negative was the service with our second visit. We had a to repeat requests more... More

Interesting and original setting but the food was a little disappointing. It took a while for the staff to show us to our table although the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, and the waitress who served us seemed to be more interested in what was going on elsewhere in the restaurant than with what we wanted. The food arrived in good... More

We visited here when we had family visiting and had a throughly enjoyable and tastey Sunday lunch. My only criticism was that the device towards the end of lunch was a little slow but otherwise, very good. We will visit again soon no doubt.
