I've been to Rafael's (or the "Good Sheds Restaurant" as many reviewers refer to it) several times over the past year since I moved to Canterbury. I have never been disappointed. The food served here is beautiful - thoughtfully prepared using the best local ingredients, with a nice selection of creative and delicious mains. The beet-walnut-blue cheese salad, the rabbit,... The whole concept of this place is perfect, Several stalls selling high quality foods and most important.......a store selling some wonderful English beers that you wont find in (m)any pubs or supermarkets! A beer drinker's heaven! We booked a table in Rafael's restaurant on Mother's day and the place was very busy, so a booking is recommended. The food was... More

We always try and support our local growers and farmers but I think the goodsshed restaurant take the biscuit with the price of their breakfast! The service was ok and a nice buzz of people walking around. The quality of food cooked wasn't amazing, undercooked bacon with layers of fat, tiny amount of beans and eggs are 50p for fried... More

We were very lucky to get a table here, arriving late lunchtime on Mother's day, on spec. As it happened, they'd just had a cancellation. I was there with my wife and daughter, so between us we tried quite several of the menu items. The venue is a restaurant in "The Goods Shed" - a food market with local fruit... More

Placed in the beautiful farmers' market, Rafael´s restaurant is catered with fresh, tasty and often local food. The ambience is relaxed and colorfull, and despite being in the same open space as the several stolls in the market, it is quiet enough to enjoy your meal. The building has been restored fully on briks and wood, making it cozzy and... More

Expected a good experience but very disappointed. High prices for pub food. Service lame. No plates for bread. No atmosphere. Vacuous space with prices inflated to pay for the heating bill! Although we were cold by the end of the meal. Toilets not up to good restaurant prices. 2 of us had Pig Cheeks - cooked for so long they... More

Went here for breakfast and had to send the food back as the eggs were undercooked, the waitress was very huffy and unapologetic despite us being very polite. Then 2 minutes later one of our table found their sausages to be undercooked, so we called her over again and she stormed back to the kitchen and then back again to... More

Took 3 kids and friend for breakfast before catching HS1 to London from right next door. Restaurant was mostly empty but staff seemed like it was all a bit too much for them to look after any more customers. Coffee machine was broken so we had lukewarm filter coffee from bar. Food was very nice and bread was delicious. Bill... More

Rafael's Restaurant is located in The Goods Shed, which is the old goods shed attached to Canterbury West Station. The shed lay derelict for years but has been renovated and houses a number of businesses, including a farmers' market and a Bottle Shop which carries specialist beers and wines. The whole venue is an experience, and the food is very... More

I haven't been to the restaurant for a number of years and decided to get a table having popped into the market. It didn't disappoint and the ingredients were fresh from the market. They change the menu twice a day so there is a lot of variety. If going on a Saturday lunchtime I recommend booking. We got a table... More
