After a river tour (definitely recommend if you are visiting Canterbury or are a local) pop into Water Lane Coffeehouse for a coffee. They serve the best!

A change of name and new owner and still the best coffee in town bar none. Good cakes to go with as well.

I found this gem of a place by accident but so pleased I did! Great hub for work or generally relaxing.

We "migrated" from a terrible coffee shop on St. Margaret's Street (rather not mention) to Browns Coffee (now called Waterlane Coffee) due to poor customer service, zero to nothing ambiance and notthing-to-shout-about coffee there. And I am so glad we did! The coffee is great and of an exquisite variety. It's cosy, and chilled. Not too noisy & man, the... More

Came here today after a bad experience with a different coffee shop with a group of friends and wow were we impressed. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed here, and it doesn't hurt that the coffee is gorgeous. 100% making this my new spot, such a cosy place.

It's tucked away near the heritage museum and is in a wonderful locationby the river. Lovely interior and excellent coffee. Worth taking a detour to find.

Firstly, the Browns Coffeehouse now it is Water Lane coffeehouse, so don't be confused when you got into the right address and did not find Browns Coffeehouse. The place is lovely with a good vibe to drink coffee, read a book or chat with some friends. The coffee is amazing, they have a good variety and a excellent service.

I love Water Lane Coffeehouse. This was formerly Brown's coffeehouse but I believe it had changed owners, but the coffee is still the same. I am an absolute coffee addict. And nothing makes me smile more than seeing an artisan coffeehouse two minutes walk away from my house. This cafe treats coffee like a delicate, multi dimensional piece of art.... More

Probably the best coffee in the world! I travel an hour to visit Canterbury every weekend and a cup of Brown's Coffee Shop coffee with cake is on my mind all the way. Fantastic coffee, great service, perfect atmosphere… If you are visiting Canterbury don't miss this back street treasure (and no I don't work in or own the shop,... More

Great coffee here, shared a chemex. This palce is just set back from the hustle and bustle of the main street so you can chill and watch the river go by. Great beans and they know how to use them. I will be back next time im in canterbury
