We were looking for somewhere for lunch that was dog friendly and served good food. This place ticked both boxes. Firstly, we were given a very warm welcome. A young man called David found us a table near the fire and chatted to us about our stay in Canterbury. He was extremely friendly, helpful and yet not intrusive in any... More

Great beer garden, nice food and friendly staff but paid 21 pounds for 2 drinks, a sandwich and a spud!

The white Hart has a limited menu but what it does offer is cooked to order and perfectly done. They offer a range of home made pies. I had their steak and ale pie which consisted of chunks of very tender beef surrounded by a light, perfectly cooked shortcrust pastry. This accompanied by perfect chips which were crisp outside and... More

A pricey but warm little pub tucked quitely away round the back of the Dane John Gardens. Has a sweet little beer garden in the back and does good food. Definitely worth a look and is away from the main tourist strip.

We had an early evening visit here, looking for supper. We were greeted warmly, and there was a pleasant atmosphere. The beer was ok but was Shepherds Neame. The food was very good. I had chicken and ham pie, which I loved, the vegetables were cooked very well, and the onion rings were super. My companion had fish and chips,... More

Visited this pub last Saturday en route to a rugby match. Staff and service were friendly, helpful and prompt. We enjoyed some good beer and food. My fresh fish was cooked to perfection and I have not had better in expensive restaurants. Chips were top rate as well. My friends all had Ham and Eggs and they were very happy... More

Food poor and not very exciting, as well as being expensive for what you get. Fish and chips looked like 70s Birds Eye special, you would get a better burger at any football ground. No atmosphere, very noisy. Maybe that's why it is Canterburys best kept secret...best to keep it that way! It's in a great location and could be... More

Lovely friendly bar staff served us up a huge steak and ale and creamy mash potato. The children's menu is good and not just fishfingers and good size portion. Just disappointed we didn't have room for dessert.

Having read the positive reviews and looking for a dog friendly pub, we decided to seek out the White Hart in Canterbury. Very mediocre. What looked like oven chips, large but neglected looking garden, dirty tables in garden, filthy gents loo. We will not be planning a return visit.

the best fish and chips I have ever eaten and that's saying a lot. great service in a quite location away from the tourist trail. My hosts (it was my birthday) both had a burger and both agreed they had not had better anywhere. Don't like fish and chips or burger? well there are many other options to choose from... More
