Wine is front of a roaring fire

For people who get the train into Canterbury. You have probably walked past this place many, many times. And may not even given it a second glance. If this is you. The next time you walk past, make time to go in. It's a small, low light, welcoming, atmospheric public house. Dark wood floors and... read more

This pub has a really cosy atmosphere during the day and is especially nice on Sunday lunchtimes. They serve a wide variety of food like pies, and do a really nice Sunday roast. The beer garden is spacious and really nice when there is warm weather. The staff are really nice and make you feel really comfortable in this great... More

Went here for a big family lunch, and was made to feel so at home. We were warned when ordering that the pies would take 30 minutes, which was fine becuase we were chatting, and when they arrived we could not have been more happy! Huge portions, all homemade and absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic, and we felt very... More

I couldn't see on TA whether dogs are allowed in this pub so had to use another dog friendly website. Just to check, I called and they said yes. I arrived about 1230 and was the first customer. A pint of SA Brains' The Rev for me and space for Reggie to lie down was perfect. Whilst my wife and... More

Stayed at Castle hotel, staff recommended white Hart for a home made pie supper on a cold evening. What a delightful place, real fire...real English food. Pies are the best ever and I normally hate pies. Staff attentive, and nothing to much bother. Prices great. Closed early on Sunday nights...so get there early. Finish your meal with a lovely cheese board... More

We are staying in Canterbury for a few days and have visited the White Hart a few times as it is near to our hotel. Lovely food and friendly service. Would recommend this place, it's tucked away, quiet and run by nice people!

Looking for a dinner venue after booking into the Castle House hotel, Canterbury we were recommended to try The White Heart. We were pleasantly surprised by fine beer, good food and friendly, helpful service. The pub is small so getting an inside table could be difficult; but, worth persevering.

We were in a bookshop in Canterbury and I asked for advice on a good place to eat. The salesperson advised us to eat at the White Hart and not in the Pub opposite. We took her advice and were soon sitting comfortably and perusing the menu. We were not all that hungry so the Ploughmans lunch for two, looked... More

Having been to the white Hart several times before and been happy with the menu and quality it was the natural place to meet for lunch. We were however very disappointed today. We had 4 different meals, chillie con carnie, steak pie, steak burger, and cheese and Tom sandwich. Only the sandwich was truly edible. The other three meals being... More
