Homemade steak and ale pie was very good...potato jackets have a good variety of toppings. Beer was a little watery. Service was friendly albeit not real attentive. Worth a trip if you are in the neighbourhood

Great fun and good home made Pies. We tasted four different ones. I think that the Chicken and Gammon was best but they were all nice. The fish pie will fill even the starving! AND it is good! This new landlord deserves to succeed!

I came in here chasing the specter of my of ex-GF, Angela, like Alice through the void of time. Was happy to find out I could still enjoy this friendly, charming pub - even alone. The staff were quick in dispensing the drinks and the other patrons were happy engage in a bit of banter. Not a hot spot for... More

Pleasant pub with food. Nice friendly staff. Downside - closed by 10 pm. Not sure why this is? Obviously being on edge of town it was quiet as no students in town at the time. Maybe it opens longer when there are more customers about?

My husband and I recently spent a week in Canterbury and thoroughly enjoyed spending many of our lunchtimes in this pretty old world pub. This pub could do so well if only it was in the correct hands. Sadly shepherd neame have hold of it meaning extortionate prices, and the current tenant not doing much good to it either! The food is average pub food, expensive prices. The so called home made pies seem very much like they have been bought in! This is... More

We booked a table here for 10 people for a birthday celebration. The guy who runs this place is really friendly and enthusiastic (in a good way!).He's recently taken over the running of it and you can tell he really enjoys it. We had lovely food, with a special mention for the gorgeous home made pies. Lovely beer garden and... More

What a find, a gorgeous old inn that does amazing food, with a huge beer garden, child and dog friendly in a quiet but picturesque part of the city. I and my friends loved it here. Perfect spot for a lazy Sunday birthday lunch. Big thank you to the staff, we will return!

Friendly young barman, bright spacious pub, we visited on a Monday lunchtime and it was fairly quiet. The food consisted of the usual pub fare and was good rather than exceptional. I had the steak and ale pie with vegetables, followed by good cheese board all at a reasonable price. Decent red wine by the glass and the coffee was particulary good.... More
