this little pub in the heart of Canterbury is just delightful. plenty of seating inside and out where you can watch the world go by with views of Canterbury cathedral poking from the roofs of Canterbury. Food was delicious, reasonably priced and very good portions. the local ales that they have on offer are far better than the mass produced... More

Last-minute visit to Canterbury today; looking for places to eat as a family (NOT McDonalds, thank you!) and looked at many menus before stumbling upon the Bell&Crown down a back street in Canterbury. First off; the scrubbed pine tables and lack of fuss inside was instantly appealing. Second; the guy behind the bar was welcoming without being false, said to... More

The Bell & Crown Pub, is quite an unassuming place, located at 10-11 Palace Street, about 5mins walk down from Canterbury Cathedral. However, don't let that deceive you - once you walk inside, you will be rather surprised by the interesting menu options available. During my visit, I had the opportunity to try the butternut squash, beetroot + goat’s cheese... More

I hadn't been back to England in 27 years. I took my family and we did a packaged coach tour that included a stop at Canterbury Cathedral. We were on our own for lunch and I decided I wanted a traditional ploughman's lunch. The Bell & Crown did not disappoint.

I stumbled upon this pub a few years ago and had such a great experience I found it again this trip! I brought a group of 11 and every meal was great! Large portions, great choices, friendly staff behind the bar! Locals were coming in and out and posters advertised night entertainment. Will definitely go back again when in the... More

We popped in here on a recent trip to Kent. The range of beers, all local, is good and the quality excellent. We found the staff very friendly and, from the look of the menu and empty plates, the food is reasonably priced and enjoyed by all who choose to dine. Prior arrangements meant we didn't partake in food ourselves... More

We left the Cathedral after an extensive tour via the quadrangle at the rear, and past the school that is there. Onto the lane and heading towards the town, we came across the Bell and Crown. This is a small pub, evidently of considerable age, and well kept. Some seating outside attracted us first, and we ordered inside. Armed with... More

I've been in here a few times since moving to Canterbury - nice little pub, good banter out of the staff and some decent beers on tap. Nice to sit outside on a warm day and put the world to rights. Or you could be like us and prop the bar up on a Saturday night until closing. Either way,... More
