Very pleasant birthday evening

all round good place to go.. Aesthetics, hospitality, food good. Would have given a 5 if the food had been outstanding, but still very nice and would go again. Well done.

We had a few hours to kill so we just wandered and came across the oldest pub in Canterbury. I loved the old place and it's always great when you get great food too. Friendly staff, great service.

This was booked for us. There was some delay in getting our menu because a large party had just arrived - but we could have been looking at the menu in the meantime and when the food arrived, it was not what you would call stunning, as my belly pork was dry and tough. Our bill for four adults with... More

It was very busy when we arrived and we asked to eat staff member said she would check with the chef what the situation on food would be. He said if we could order quickly and beat the large party that was about to come in he could do it straight away and sure enough he did. Had the lamb,... More

I had The Bishop's Mitre burger with out the onion rings ((Could you manage this?) Double beef steak burger, pulled pork, smoked Cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, BBQ sauce and topped with onion rings). It was easily the 2nd best burger I have ever had in my life. With all the toppings it stands about 6" tall and I had to use... More

Been coming here for years. Beer has and is still good as ever but what on earth has happened to the beer garden. It has been the best and peaceful beer garden in Canterbury but at the moment it looks dreadful. Delapidated chairs, wonky and rotten benches. Rotting leaves strewn over the place. Hopefully things will improve.

this pub used to have a lovely courtyard to rival anywhere in Canterbury, now sadly neglected & unkempt, there are even collapsed seats amongst the tables & chairs, such a shame as we enjoyed the food & ghe service was good!

My boyfriend and I visited for our anniversary using a taste card and had previously booked (as we are aware you need to book to use one, both working in tastecard registered restaurants ourselves). On arrival when we let them know we had a tastecard the man wasn't too friendly and told us we needed to have let them know... More

We called in here for lunch using Taste card, having pre booked. The staff are really friendly and charming. A good menu and huge portions! The pub also has a lovely interior, being I believe one of the oldest buildings in Canterbury. A great place to have lunch and relax in between shopping! In the summer there is also a... More

We went unexpectedly as a group after work for a drink, about 15 of us all together. About 5 of us decided to order food, some of which was just snacks and the service we received was really disappointing. To be honest they made us feel unwelcome and as if we were a nuisance on there business, we wish we... More
