Amazing food but Customer service could be better

My boyfriend and I visited for our anniversary using a taste card and had previously booked (as we are aware you need to book to use one, both working in tastecard registered restaurants ourselves). On arrival when we let them know we had a tastecard the man wasn't too friendly and told us we... read more

I had The Bishop's Mitre burger with out the onion rings ((Could you manage this?) Double beef steak burger, pulled pork, smoked Cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, BBQ sauce and topped with onion rings). It was easily the 2nd best burger I have ever had in my life. With all the toppings it stands about 6" tall and I had to use... More

Been coming here for years. Beer has and is still good as ever but what on earth has happened to the beer garden. It has been the best and peaceful beer garden in Canterbury but at the moment it looks dreadful. Delapidated chairs, wonky and rotten benches. Rotting leaves strewn over the place. Hopefully things will improve.

this pub used to have a lovely courtyard to rival anywhere in Canterbury, now sadly neglected & unkempt, there are even collapsed seats amongst the tables & chairs, such a shame as we enjoyed the food & ghe service was good!

We called in here for lunch using Taste card, having pre booked. The staff are really friendly and charming. A good menu and huge portions! The pub also has a lovely interior, being I believe one of the oldest buildings in Canterbury. A great place to have lunch and relax in between shopping! In the summer there is also a... More

We went unexpectedly as a group after work for a drink, about 15 of us all together. About 5 of us decided to order food, some of which was just snacks and the service we received was really disappointing. To be honest they made us feel unwelcome and as if we were a nuisance on there business, we wish we... More

The pub is very old and still has that old charm. The doors are maintained as old ones and the food served is amazing although the food menu is short.

Old building and quite atmospheric inside. Staff helpful and attentive but not the smartest I have ever seen. Beer was good. I had a rib eye steak which was tough. All that was on the plate, apart from the steak – grilled tomato, whole garlic halved and grilled and a bowl of chips. For a quick pint in a very... More

We were here for sunday lunch and to be honest, only went here because all other restaurants were fully booked. however, I was happily surprised to find that the food was great! The chips especially were very good - would highly recommend it.
