This is one of the best pubs in the area, always clean and welcoming, the menu is lovely, has a good choice of foods and all freshly made. Sam adams on tap!so other half is always happy. In particular the manager Frances is fantastic! attention to detail from him is why return. most of the staff there are very friendly... More

Great location, in historic Canterbury. Fantastic food, served in pretty large helpings. Real ale on tap, in one of the oldest buildings in Canterbury, circa 400 ad. The "Bishops Mitre" is a huge burger challenge, you won't be disappointed.

We ate at the parrot on Thursday with 15 work colleagues for a Christmas meal. The food was badly cooked – stone hard sprouts, warmed up roast potatoes probably cooked the previous day, other vegetables cold. The food was bland – it gave the impression of warm-up stuff from the shelf in Asda. The service was also poor –no one... More

We, group of four went to The Parrot last night, first time for me, not my companions, very nice looking pub and not surprisingly busy, A Shepherd Neame pub so I'm not a big fan of their ales, however, we settled for Merlin, and very nice too, the barman told us in no uncertain terms that food was not going to be... The Parrot has been there, in various guises for a long time, a loooong time. It's been moving from pillar to post recently from a slightly scuzzy, yet lovely freehouse, through one brewery and now into the hands of ubiquitous Kentish brewer Shepherd Neame. I'm not a big fan of Shep's, I don't think their beer is especially good, and... More

This is one of the oldest buildings in the city, but very comfortable despite the wonky floor. We had Sunday lunch and it was great value with lots of vegetables. Well served by attentive staff. I'd definitley eat there again.

This is a great place for dinner or drinks. The atmosphere is cozy - I think it is one of the oldest buildings in Canterbury. Unfortunately, there is no longer an actual parrot in residence but the food, drink and ambiance make up for that! Their menu is varied and the food is excellent, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable... More

We spent an enjoyable weekend in Canterbury with French friends who had never been before and took them to the Parrot for lunch. The pub ambience is always very welcoming, staff professional and friendly and although they were fully booked for lunch they went out of their way to find us a table once one came free!! The food was... More

Food was lovely. Had Sunday lunch here. Had pork belly and it was delicious. Crackling is always going to make me happy when it's cooked correctly. 6 of us ate lunch and enjoyed it. One girls beef was a little tough.....that's my only complaint. For me lunch was lovely. Service was professional and friendly and the pub itself is gorgeous.... More

Love the Parrot for a relaxing meal with friends or family. The food is pretty standard gastropub fare, but it is done so well. Ate here most recently with friends. Wine reasonably priced. We had a good selection of food across the table, from burgers to liver to pie. The chips are something else. I'd eat here for the chips... More
