I ate lunch here today and it made me feel happy. I am vegetarian. Food is fresh and freshly prepared. Food combinations are imaginative but straightforward. Taste is paramount. I had soup, bread and salad. Excellent tastes and textures. Food made with love and served by friendly and communicative staff members. The atmosphere of the room was warm and welcoming.... More

One of the best places for lunch in Canterbury, healthy, hearty and tastes wonderful. There is a nice atmosphere and the cakes and puddings are to die for. One of only two cafes I go to in Canterbury.

My wife suggested that I treat her to a lunch here. I'm not vegetarian but don't mind trying different things. The wife is more complicated as she has dietary requirements as well, which sometimes can be very frustrating to sort out if we are popping in anywhere. We had to wait for a table (the shop downstairs was very handy)... More

Some people would never visit a vegetarian cafe, targeted at vegetarians and vegans, and situated almost on the back of a whole food shop. They will miss out on a lovely experience. The Veg Box Cafe feels as if it's on a evangelical mission to change the world. I don't mind that, because I'm always happy to lock swords with... More

I most certainly am not a vegetarian, but the image of nut cutlets and rabbit food is totally inappropriate for the veg box cafe. I had a very tasty veggie meal of home made (I think) quiche and salad, washed down with an organic beer. Both meal and beverage were excellent, although I found the chocolate cheesecake rather bland, and... More

We popped in for lunch having been here about 2 years ago and remembered it was good. We had a quiche with salad and bean burger with their Buddha salad which was fantastic. Desserts were a little disappointing with the raw chocolate cheesecake being bland and a bit soggy and the ginger bomb was tasty but very heavy and not... More

We just missed lunch (which looked great from the menu) but had a very nice tasting platter. The staff were friendly, the prices were reasonable, and though we were the only customers at that time of day it had a lovely atmosphere. Even better, there's a right proper vegetarian shop downstairs with a cork board full of petitions!

This was my first trip to an all veggie cafe. I had pitta, humus and olives. It was tasty and filling. I really enjoyed the surroundings, and the staff are efficient and friendly. I would recommend this as a place to go with friends. They offer gluten free foods etc. I love this place and will be returning!

Just missed lunch but the staff found us something great. Very relaxed and could have stayed all afternoon with teas and the best snack of mixed nuts, marinaded in their own soy recipe.

I tried this no nonsense lunchtime eatery with my partner, having seen good reiews on Trip Advisor and expectations were justified. The popularity of this place is clear from the fact that despite being tucked round a little corner away from the main drag, people were queueing patiently for a table. The portions are big and very good value for... More
