We stopped by for lunch on the back of the trip advisor reviews, and we weren't disappointed! The starters were superb, particularly the "Duck Four Ways" - an absolute must. Beautifully presented, with a taste as good as the visuals. The pizzas are very generous in size, and excessively cheesy - in the best possible way. The double-cooked beef was... More

I come here occasionally and always enjoy the food. The menu is incredibly well thought out with exciting ideas and is often changed which is always welcome (there's nothing worse than a menu that remains static for years, so I feel). The restaurant itself seems very clean as well, which is important to me. I went with my other half... More

We were celebrating my cousin's 80th birthday and as we crossed the bridge over the River Stour, (stopping to look at the trout in the crystal clear waters), we were greeted at the restaurant door by a polite and welcoming young man. A most pleasant and charming young lady took our order and my wife and I chose the Mixed... More

The food was very tastey and the menu is expansive so there is likely to be something for most, including the fussy eaters. As for the service, I think it may have been the waiters first, or one of his first, night, so it was a little awkward but very good nevertheless. I will defiantly be going back at some... More

Stopped here on the spur of the moment and we're glad we did. The service and food were both superb. Unusual things on the menu - Duck four ways - wonderful, deep fried sushi (yes really) out of this world. Delicious Kentish lamb and Confit of Duck cooked just right. We will be returning soon and recommending to all our... More

What a great find this was. Right next to the House of Agnes where we were staying on a cold February night so did not want to travel too far so this was perfect, and it all was we had the Gloucestershire Old Spot Schnitzel and Seared Kentish Lamb both were great. Nice well priced wine and a friendly waiter... More

Visited here with my close family to celebrate a birthday on a Friday evening. Living in Canterbury all our lives, but having traveled frequently internationally over the years, this is one of the very few places we visit when we decide to dine out. The ingredients are of a good standard and quality, and the service is always great. The... More

I have visited soleil many many times and every single time the food is exceptional and the service is impeccable. It is completely fairly priced with options varying from budget to pricey but all is utterly delicious. Brilliant.

Café du Soleil is one of a trio of Canterbury restaurants owned by the same people. The others are the Mexican Café des Amis, and the Spanish-Moroccan themed Café Mauresque. They're all very good restaurants, but Café du Soleil is less well known than the others. It's in a lovely old building with a terrace overlooking the river. The food,... More

Really love this place! Pizzas are particularly good, being wood-fired and the duck confit is also excellent. Children's menu is also exceptional having several options, plus choice of any flavour child size pizza for only £3.95 including a drink
