Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall. Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.

The café is in a warehouse on the River Stour recently rebuilt using reclaimed materials It was busy and noisy with loud music which staff declined to turn down. For starters I had scallops with chorizo, sea lettuce and hollandaise. It was good though the scallops were over cooked. We all had pizza’s because the café has a proper wood... More

We had a great family meal on a Sunday night, al fresco. Great to sit outside. 2 course menu for £12.95 is fantastic to have a taste of the quality food they serve. If you add a starter or desert and a glass of wine you'll spend £20-£25 pounds. Starters: our favourite if the Beef Carpaccio with the soy sauce.... More

I took both my parents here because of the reviews on TripAdvsor and I was not left disappointed. The exterior at night is fanastic as well as the interior giving off an intimate unique feel. The service was excellent, and the staff were clearly trained very well. I had the scallops to start which were fantastic, followed by the chicken... More

Visited with a group of friends for the first time on a Saturday night and found the restaurant busy with a lively atmosphere. Menu averagely priced with a good range of fish, meat and pizza choices. Everyone was pleased with their meals however portions could have been more generous in some cases. The wood chicken and Paella was great but... More

I'd never been here, despite being local, but recently enjoyed a good meal. The location is great and the interior very nicely done. It was reasonbly priced but our only complaint was, in this price range, one really expects a little more food per helping. The side order of garlic bread was inadequate we thought.

Every so often myself and a couple friends meet up for a sumptuous diinner. This restaurant is something different. It is not a cafe. The menu is not just standard food. It is varied and unusual. The calamari as a starter is superb. This can be followed by spicey Italian sausage and mash. The atmosphere is good and the staff... More

We had a lovely meal after our wedding on 6 June. The staff at the restaurant were accommodating and the food was good. The setting is pleasant, on the river, and the ambience inside the restaurant is warm and friendly. It is very local to us and we will be going again.

We reserved a table for four people at the Cafe du Soleil based of the good TripAdvisor reviews and I can honestly say we were all really impressed. firstly the cafe itself had a lovely inviting feel inside with great ambience, music playing in the background which I thought was a lovely touch. We was greeted by a very charming... More
