It was once good!

It was a choice between the King William IV or The Ancient Briton;sadly we opted for the latter. My dad is disabled and struggles to walk. There is a ramp that leads into the foyer. The toilets (only the gents as I never used that facility) were not good there was no soap at the hand basins and... read more

Plenty of parking, easy access from anywhere in St Albans, prompt seating and service. Incredibly good value and good variety of meals. I tend to go at least once a week with either my wife or elder son and am generally surprised by the low cost. The salad bar is also superb with a huge variety and extremely fresh and... More

Absolutely filthy every piece of cutlery and crockery were dirty. We came home feeling ill. The service was appalling could not get the order right. Why we paid for this I do not know. Never will we step in here again.

We were shown to our table straight away which is probably the only positive! We ordered waited 25 minutes for our starters which were cold! The side sauce was hotter than the actually food, the potato was also undercooked and were just thrown into a basket?! The waitress then came over and said 'are you finished' then took the plates.... The ladies' toilets were filthy. Two were blocked, one had a broken lock and the fourth had no paper. Paper was strewn all over the place. I didn't use it. I had to search through the bowls for the salad bar to find a clean one, the floor was sticky, and there was a dead fly on the windowsill behind... More

We usually visit our local Harvester in Garston for a weekly breakfast get together but due to food standards dropping we thought we would try another Harvester - what a mistake that was. After being kept locked out after the opening time of 9am in the cold and the wet, we were finally allowed in to find the cold buffet... More

Took around 25mins to be seated after we arrived and took over an hour for our food to be served. The staff were unhelpful and tended to ignore other dinners who were in need of assistance. The head waitress (Nicola) was particularly rude and ill-natured. When asked how long the wait would be she gave an unsuitable and unspecific answer.... More

Met by Nicola (assistant Manager?). extremely moody, slouched over the counter. No attempt to be friendly , no smile, Waited 30 mins for the table. Waited a further hour for food to be served Forgot to make one of the meals. 3 other tables by us complained at the very long wait. Waitresses could not care less until people started... More

Popped in for a quick meal this week , can't find a positive to mention except the waitress who was clearly over stretched with the amount of tables she had . Drink order taken 20 mins after we sat down. Salad bar was rank , coleslaw was sour and tasted of vinegar as it had gone off. Pasta tasted fishy... More

My children like going here and each time I hope for an improved experience. Unfortunately no improvements. A quiet Tuesday night, with only half their tables in use because of lack of waiting staff. Hence, we waited 2 hours from arrival until we had our main courses in front of us. The only saving grace was the waitress who was... More
