Finally able to appreciate our local pub. Kids are now welcome under the new management and they have a fantastic garden for them to play in. The staff are very friendly and always make us feel very welcome. Fantastic food, especially the Sunday roast, and an extensive kids menu. Probably the best family friendly pub around!

Nice local pub to enjoy a pint or two, sit out in the beer garden and enjoy the weather. Everyone was a local but us and we were treated quite nicely. Ate there twice and enjoyed it.

This pub has one of the best beer gardens I have seen, it actually feels like a garden, no roads are visible and only old historic buildings surround it. Ordered a chicken mayonnaise sandwich, got a big plate full, good bread, fresh chicken with coleslaw salad and crisps, not bad for 4 quid. Friendly staff. Great shout at lunchtime.

From what I have been told the White Lion is under new management. My wife and I met up with another couple for a Friday lunch and remembering how busy the pub has been in the past I booked a table on-line (which was acknowledged promptly via email). I needn't have bothered with the reservation as the pub was unbelievably... More

Went to eat here due to positive reviews on TripAdvisor but couldn't as they don't allow kids in. Bah humbug.

A proper English pub with some great beer, simple tasty food & excellent atmosphere! Tucked away, in an old part of St Albans city centre, it's definitely worth the walk.

I used to drink in the White Lion 25 to 30 years ago, and returned recently to have an evening meal with friends. The range of beers being served was wide ranging, and had a few obscure brews, which i always find interesting. The food was a real surprise. the menu had some rare finds including rabbit! I chose the... More

After a long walk round St Albans last Sunday eight of us decided to pop in the White Lion for a drink and ended up staying for lunch. the young lady behind the bar was excellent and albeit the food was pub food it was excellent. Will try again when in that area.

We took advantage of the pub's Tuesday night offer of two burgers and a bottle of wine for £20. We both had the pork and chorizo burgers (they came with salad, garlic mayonnaise & tomato ketchup and a side of potato wedges), and they were delicious. The food turned up promptly and we thought it was really good value for... More
