Local pub with seasonal food

This was our second visit to the Foragers. The set menu (available Mon - Thu I think) was good value. The pigeon starter was delicious as were the venison burger and the pork belly. Service was friendly and good. There is a good selection of beers and sensibly priced wines by the... read more

Had been in here for drinks in the past so decided to book for Sunday lunch. We had the two courses for £20, and were stuffed afterwards. We had the roast beef and roast pork. Both cooked to perfection. We all throughly enjoyed the food and would definitely go back. The pub has a fantastic choice of beers and unusual... More

A midweek meal at The Foragers is excellent value, as there are special offers from their foraging menu. The pigeon starter was delicious and we then had the best beefburger in England. The food was really good and unusual, and service was friendly. The only problem is parking nearby, but the food is so delicious and filling that you will... More

St Albans is not a great place to eat. But this place - tucked down a back street, looking like a fairly anonymous pub - had everything necessary for an interesting lunch. As the name implies, there is a strong interest in locally sourced (as in the nearby hedgerows and fields and wood) to bring out some spectacular (or at... More

Menus often bore me, as I see the same kind of things over and over again in many pubs and restaurants. The menu at The Foragers/Verulam Arms was refreshingly different! Such an interesting choice that I vowed to return to try everything else. The food was of a high standard, as well as being interesting, and the staff were exceptionally... More

Seated in a corner in the bar on (obviously) an extremely busy night! Staff were very friendly, but unfortunately the Burger and Vegetable Wellington were nothing out of the ordinary. The music was very loud and the bar very crowded, so after attempting to lip read each other without much success, we asked for the bill. Not happy to see... More

Absolute brilliant! Cant recommend enough. Fantastic food, fantastic venue, love that everything is locally sourced and foraged. Good selection of real ales. Me and partner left with smiles on our faces and will definately go back. Some of the nicest food ive eaten at reasonable price and worthy of an AA rossette at least 10/10 Would highly recommend.

An excellent menu and produce including great beers and all served by great staff. So much better than eating in one of the characterless chain restaurants in the Town Centre.
