I went on one of the foraging evenings with this place and what an experience! We went out into a local foraging spot and were taught some safe things to eat and some things to avoid but the best was yet to come. The Banquet afterwards was absolutely stunning. Beautiful food, elegantly crafted, using a combination of quality stock ingredients... More

A great little gem of a restaurant inside a nice pub, tucked away in one of St Albans' back streets. Both times I've been, the service has been friendly and attentive. Food is fantastic. Well-presented and the portions, although not massive, are good. It's not somewhere to come and gorge yourself though! The Sloe Gin-cured Trout, as a starter, is... More

Venison burger absolutely delicious. Most people enjoy big chips which are plentiful but my preference is triple cooked crispy chips, never mind still enjoyable, service good and great choice of beers.

I had not been here for a year or two as last time I was here I found the waiting staff naïve, inexperienced and made little effort or took little pride in what they were doing. Oh what a change. Warmly greeted and instantly made to feel comfortable when I said I would prefer a different table to the one... More

My husband and I went here for dinner last night. We had 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine each. Bill nearly at £80 !!! (including the 10% service charge which they automatically add to the bill) My husband had Beef starter and pigeon main course which he enjoyed. I had cod with chorizo and cannellini beans and cheeseboard for... More

We went on a foraging trip with the Foragers - a one and a half hour walk searching through the masses of edible food that grows wild under our very feet in the countryside around Redbourn. It was entertaining, fun and very informative -these guys really know their stuff. The Foragers are absolutely passionate about wild food and the banquet... More

This little gem came highly recommended and on hearing they were serving a bank holiday roast, we decided to give it a try. Hidden in the back streets of St Albans, this quaint pub / restaurant is not a chain churning out robotic meals as fast as possible it is unique in all aspects not least the menu. We both... More

Lovely setting with plenty of space so that you can easily have a conversation amongst the guests at the table. The meal deal is excellent price and drink range very good, both for wines and beers. The entree soup was tasty and perfect size. My friend loved his ribs. The mains we tried were good, the pigeon is an interesting... More

Thank you for a wonderful few hours of foraging and delicious food...it's a great concept for a restaurant, and we're looking forward to visiting again to see what the countryside has to offer next month!

Lovely beer, efficient service, a nice layout and food served with dandelions, themselves accompanied by a real, happy, wholesome insect making its way around my plate. No need to complain - this is a GOOD thing. This is foraged food at its best. And by gum it tasted good (not the caterpillar, I let that go).
