Very good Sunday lunch - a notch above your normal pub grub

I had heard really good things about the pub online so decided to give it a go with some friends for Sunday lunch. I opted for the wood pigeon to start, which was fantastic. My husband had the soup which was also really tasty. For mains we all had the beef roast however the waiter told us that the... read more

Have visited twice now for both mine and my husband's birthdays. I absolutely love the food here. I like the fact that it's a pub and quite a relaxed atmosphere but all the food is amazing! I think the 'foragers' concept is really interesting too and there are some unusual dishes on the menu that you wouldn't normally see elsewhere.... More

We wend here on a Monday night as our 2 preferred choices were closed. we had a very decent meal and good service although it was not busy. would like to have seen a bit more evidence of local produce and foraging on the menu but we will definitely go again.

We have been here a few times and have always had a great experience. The menu is fairly small but has some really interesting (and tasty) dishes. There is an excellent selection of bottled beer and ales on tap. You can get 2 courses for £16 which is quite good value. The drinks are a touch expensive but definitely worth... More

I organised a Christmas gathering for close to 30 rugby mums and the Forager's were very accommodating with our dietary requirements and drink requests. (Providing a buffet for a fixed price per head in a separate area.) The food is always delicious and it is a lovely, traditional pub that has a very welcoming feel. Love the ladies' loo too!

I took a large group of friends and family to The Foragers for Sunday lunch. Even with the bother of our party arriving at different times and with all the paraphernalia associated with young children, we were still made welcome and looked after. As ever, the food was excellent - adding some unusual flavours to the Sunday roasts. I had... More

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with family group 4 adults + 4 kids. Food was excellent; range of beer is excellent. Staff were friendly, and attentive. Ambiance and table was great. It was a special occasion, and all really enjoyed it - only down side was having to leave at about 4pm, as I could easily have stayed until closing... More

Having visited friends in St Albans on several occasions we had previously failed to discover this beautiful pub. However, upon our last visit we managed to stumble upon this little gem after taking a short walk around the park. Whilst only intending to stay for a quick drink, we soon found ourselves captured by the jovial atmosphere, excellent beer range... More
