A group of seven of us visited the Verulam Arms on the 20/11/14 after a friends recommendation. The staff were all dressed well and the atmosphere was warm and friendly with a local pub feel. The foragers specialises in game which to be quite honest I'm not much of a fan. We all chose the choice of starter and main... More

This is the third time that I have been to the Foragers. I really want to give it top marks. The pub is lovely, it serves a good selection of ales, staff are friendly and the menu always looks interesting. However, I always find the food lacking a bit of flavour. Still overall, worth visit.

We went here recently for our wedding anniversary and we were really looking forward to coming back as we have been a few times. While the food was delicious (venison at £22 each) the portion size was ridiculously small especially the vegetables. Literally 1 half of a potato on a plate, 2 small sprigs of broccoli as well as the... More

Great food, lovely flavours and imaginative use of seasonal and wild ingredients one sunday lunchtime. Waiting staff attentive but not intrusive , good background music , nice atmosphere, and they even moved us to a better table near the fire to accommodate outr dog. Lovely .

I went here a few weeks ago whilst visiting a friend who was in the area on business. After a little research online i picked this place because it seemed as though they cared about what they were doing. Its not often you find places willing to forage for ingredients and produce a menu that changes according to what can... More

Two visits within two weeks and both excellent. Generally been my favorite restaurant in St. Albans over last few years and continues to be so. Beer selection gets better every time I go and the wild cocktails are also great. Highlight of the two visits was the cured salmon starter absolutely wonderful. As ever will be back!

I went on one of the foraging evenings with this place and what an experience! We went out into a local foraging spot and were taught some safe things to eat and some things to avoid but the best was yet to come. The Banquet afterwards was absolutely stunning. Beautiful food, elegantly crafted, using a combination of quality stock ingredients... More

A great little gem of a restaurant inside a nice pub, tucked away in one of St Albans' back streets. Both times I've been, the service has been friendly and attentive. Food is fantastic. Well-presented and the portions, although not massive, are good. It's not somewhere to come and gorge yourself though! The Sloe Gin-cured Trout, as a starter, is... More

Venison burger absolutely delicious. Most people enjoy big chips which are plentiful but my preference is triple cooked crispy chips, never mind still enjoyable, service good and great choice of beers.

I had not been here for a year or two as last time I was here I found the waiting staff naïve, inexperienced and made little effort or took little pride in what they were doing. Oh what a change. Warmly greeted and instantly made to feel comfortable when I said I would prefer a different table to the one... More
