My husband and I visit the Slug & Lettuce regularly and have always commented on how courteous the staff are. Once I wasn't happy with the way my eggs were cooked and it was dealt with straight away. I was asked if I wanted to see the Manager, I said no, as I felt my complaint had been dealt with... More

Visited for a late lunch and chose the the philly steak ciabatta with chips, asked for the steak to be cooked medium, within abt 10 minutes was served our food , which I thought was rather quick to cook a steak. Well the saying " old boots" fits I took a bite into my sandwich and the whole lump of... More

Went with friends for my birthday. Was all sitting near the DJ stand. Was having a good time until a bloke that we discovered is the manager went to take a chair away for no reason and pushed the tables we were sitting at right next to the window so nobody could sit there. A friend asked the manager why... More

Called in for breakfast, wife had the porridge and I had the Eggs Benedict. Both superbly cooked and presented - and tasted great!

My friend and I enjoyed the drinks and nibbles at the Slug and Lettuce and although it was a quiet sunday when we visited, the food and drinks took forever to arrive. There were barely any customers yet there were delays in the food preparation, which I could not understand how this linked to the drinks.

As were looking for a place to spend the evening in St Albans after a slow walk around town, The Slug and Lettuce seemed like a really good option as the atmosphere was appropriate for our type. As we entered we were looking for a table and just then I've seen a fork lying on the floor. It was there... More

Popped in Sunday afternoon after a walk around town for a meal and was treated to one of the best Beef Pies I've had in a long time. Pastry was sound and the beef was tender and full of flavour, and the gravy was delightful. The other meals were all lovely and served hot. Table service was prompt and friendly... More

The Slug and Lettuce doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. It's a nice pub doing basic fare to a reasonable standard at a decent price. Don't expect top class cuisine, but everything is freshly prepared (most likely from a huge fridge or freezer) and the service is always good. The sharing platters are very good value fast food.

I went here for lunch a couple of days ago with a friend. We found the food to be yummy and fresh especially for 'a chain' and the service was excellent. Perfect balance of being served but not over bearing and no waiting around for the food to turn up. Staff friendly and busy happy vibes. The bill was reasonable... More

Called in here on route to a spa break at Sopwell house, having been impressed when I had dropped in previously a while back. I can't fault it really, nice atmosphere, great service, good choice of food, reasonably priced. I expect I will be back if I am ever in the area.
