Lovely evening, the true Brits wouldn't complain! The venue has most things you need for a good night out, good food, good booze, but the service is a little hit or miss. Its a large restaurant and therefore can lose a little atmosphere or cosiness! From the outside looking in, I didn't know... read more

We decided to go to the Whistling Duck for lunch on the bank holiday recently. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly chap and had our choice of tables. The wine list was extensive and settled on a Pinot Grigio in the end. He had the livers for starters followed by the lamb shank. For my lunch I... More

Food is below par service is amateur does not live up to reviews. Sweet chilli prawns whilst had flavour was such a small portion. Asked for basket of bread that took 15 mins too arrive they bought two baskets and charged for them. Rack of lamb was nothing more than three tiny cutlets herb encrusted and mostly fat. Sauté potatoes... More

First visit to this restaurant on a Saturday - a good first impression gave way to a very noisy environment (combination of people talking rather than loud music) We arrived at 8pm to be told certain menu items were not available (poor management) - starters poor, avoid the mushrooms, an absolute joke - main courses also overpriced and under seasoned... Have eaten here before and will definitely come again. Everything was cooked perfectly (as usual) and the new menu was good. I love the crepe Suzette cooked at the table. It was not warm enough to sit outside by the river on this visit but is lovely on a summer evening. The service is very good....the maitre d is excellent... More

I visited the restaurant recently with a friend for lunch and we ordered sea bass as main course at a cost of £13.95. The dishes arrived with one sea bass fillet and a very small number of sautéed potatoes beneath it. It looked rather lost on the plate and not a vegetable in sight. The fish was cooked very well... I went to the Whistling Duck Abba Tribute Band party night. It was a brilliant evening. The food was excellent, could not fault the service, the waiters and waitresses were very attentive. There was a fantastic atmosphere. A totally brilliant night. I would highly recommend this as a venue for any celebration, beautifully done out with only the highest quality... More

My brother held his 50th birthday party here on 18.4.15. There were 8 of us in total. I had scallops to start (3) and they tasted lovely, my partner and several others ordered garlic mushrooms (they looked tinned to me?) with rustic bread to dip in the garlic butter which was none existent. An extra roll costs extra. A couple... More
