Large spread out dining floor which you would struggle to call intimate but nicely fitted out all the same. Very attentive service and food was well cooked and nicely presented. you can eat fairly cheaply if you choose carefully but the signature dishes can blow the budget. Friday night saw another gathering of us 'oldies' at the Whistling Duck. This would make our 3rd visit. We were shown to our table within minutes of arriving, and having a round table meant that we could be interactive, and converse with each other without having to leave our seats. The choice of menu was superb and the staff very... More

Probably about a year since we last visited, and reception and standard of service was as good. That's where the good experience compared to last time ended. Skipping the starter, we opted to go straight for the roast main course, with a view to a pudding afterwards. We ordered the roast pork and roast beef that I was told would... More

Wednesday evening meal. Sensible menu, very efficient and hospitable maitre d', There isn't much atmosphere, as it is in spare accommodation in a garden centre (yes, honestly) but otherwise 100% ok. Some of the wines on their list are seriously expensive. Top: if you don't want to pay £39 up for a bottle of wine, choose a cheaper one. Easy,... More

First time to visit this place after a recommendation from a colleague. We had not booked and was in the area on a Sunday lunchtime, on off chance went in and managed to get a table for 2. The bar area was very spacious and had a welcoming look the bar staff were warm and cheery. We were shown to... More

Had a couples meal here to celebrate late valentines/anniversary. Food was good, service was good... Especially liked the chocolate covered strawberries at the end of the meal, nice touch. The only negative comment is why have a gorgeous grand piano and not use it? We would have preferred to have listened to piano music then the cd they had playing.

Visiting here one Saturday, we were wholeheartedly recommended the Burgers by one of the friendly staff. That was where the good ended however; the burgers were tragically bad. For a venue that boasts the largest BBQ centre in the area, you would think a decent burger would be high on the priority list. But it was a tasteless, unseasoned lump... More

This place could be a lot better. I had the duck for main which was disappointingly tough, really overcooked. I couldn't actually cut through it. I told the waitress and the reply was 'well we've never had a complaint about the duck before.' - Great reply! Needless to say this was my first and last visit here.

This restaurant is very big!! It's huge! But most of all it's friendly! The staff were brilliant, funny, friendly and kind. We ended up going there unintentionally (we were looking for another restaurant) so we didn't have a table booking. However, we were made to feel so welcome when we arrived by Antonio it was fab. He was a great... More
