Just spotted this pub as we were driving past looking for somewhere for lunch. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the restaurant/bar was a nice setting, tastefully decorated and furnished. My wife and in-laws had the over-60s carvery and I - being too young - had moules marinieres. The mussels were very good, though it felt a bit... More

Popped in for a lunch-time meal, and we were very pleased with the meals served for us. I opted for the carvery, excellent, meat cooked to perfection, and Mrs. Fox Hat had the carvery meat on ciabatta with salad and fries, lovely. Puddings were great, not too sweet. All in all, a great value for money meal.

Arrived for a fairly late lunch, and met by attentive and pleasant staff. The meals came quickly, were hot and of good size, and not too expensive. In particular the hot cherry Bakewell tart was great, and obviously home made. We did not have the carvery this time, but saw the large helpings of meat being dished out, and the... More

We had our Summer outing meal here, a party of about 18. Carvery was excellent, with a good choice of vegetables. Staff are always friendly and helpful

This is a review of two consecutive evenings which were quite different. The first was fairly quiet admittedly but the service was prompt and professional. A carvery was offered, which one of our party was happy with. I had excellent ham, egg and chips. A reasonable bill and a pleasant meal. The next evening was a little busier. The carvery was... More

We went to The Walwyn for my birthday last night. We were a party of 6 adults and 2 children under 10. Greeting was great, table was close to the door for the children to use the playground easily and the pub was not particularly busy, but still had the usual nice atmosphere. We all ordered our food, but the... More

Sunday lunchtime visit. Decent tidy pub with big garden and kids' play area. Nice greeting on arrival with table order for drinks and food taken in timely manner. Food decent. From then on, very slow service. 45 mins until table cleared at which point desert menu was offered but did not materialise. Asked for bill which also failed to show.... More

Lovely sunny evening, went early evening for a carvery. The roast pork was tender and tasty. Staff efficient and welcoming. Nice beer garden for a relaxed summer evening.
