Have been to the Cottage a number of times, mainly for Sunday lunch, which is excellent, food served ' piping hot ' & cooked to perfection. Also very good value. Old fashioned pub with quality food, beer, local cider & a good choice of reasonably priced wines. Staff always cheerful & have been very helpful to my wife who requires... More

Just returned from a long weekend spent hiking with friends in the Wye Valley. We had a very pleasant 2-night stay here: the rooms are comfortable (without being luxurious, but that's just ideal for an outdoors weekend), the food and beer are very good and the position on the bank of the Wye in a tiny hamlet is picturesque. Very... More

Six of us went to the Cottage of Content for Sunday Lunch on easter Sunday. The food was of good quality however the size of the Vegetable / Roast Potato dish was measly to say the least. We had to immediatlely ask for more vegetables and potatoes. the extra veg took ages to come and we never got the extra... More

Lovely welcoming pub. We arrived just before the kitchen closed and had a lovely meal. The hake was well cooked, pork very good and vegetarian gratin lovely. The cottage chips with cheese are super scrummy too. There are lots of walks around and it's a real treat to finish up at a pub like the Cottage, we will definitely return!

We stayed here for an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. The room was cold when were arrived, freezing actually. The radiator wasn't working, but there was an electric plug-in heater provided. We left this on all evening while we were downstairs and the room was fine on our return. Dinner was great, the waitress really friendly and the atmosphere,... More

We heard about this place and decided on popping out for a drive and having lunch. The pub is a friendly country inn that had a log fire burning away which made it feel all cosy. This lunchtime was pretty quiet but the lady of the house (the chef's wife) was very welcoming and helpful. The food was very well... More

Sunday lunch with family friends. Traditional sunday roasts with beer . Food was fine. perhaps the yorkshires were more for show ( enormous) than the quality of their eating. but overall happy with ambiance and quality. Service was a bit slow, but not the end fo the world to be honest- we weren't in a mad rush. Would eb more... More

Aged relative and I visited for lunch after having heard about it for years. The atmosphere and the waitress were charming but the food was a little disappointing. I had a veggie Thai curry (eventually- because there was only 1 waitress, I was given the wrong meal to start) It tasted rather like yesterday's parsnips in a nice Thai sauce.... More

The Cottage is a wonderful old inn with original beams and the opportunity to stay overnight, should you wish. It's quite difficult to find, but worth the ffort. The food is lovely and the menu is imaginative and well prepared. It can be a bit pricey and a little pretentious but it all tastes good and definitely worth a visit.

We went for lunch at the cottage just before Xmas, the food was exquisite! I had the sea bass that came out just as I like it served, as a proper fish, not messed with, it was cooked to perfection! on our table we also had the cottage pie that was thoroughly enjoyed and the game crumble that i haven't...
