My grandmother and I lunched here a few days back during a day out in Winchester. There was only us and another small group eating in the main bar bit. Apart from that, there were about two or three weddings going on at the same time. It seemed generally well-organized although at times we did have to circumnavigate the wedding... More

Great decor indoor. Real old world feel to this pub. We are at old school desks which were a nice touch given the location. Good beer selection and good food. Would recommend.

I booked a table for 2 online for my wife's birthday on July 30th a whole month before and made a note if it were possible to put a candle in the dessert at the end. When we arrived it was busy yet with a wonderful pub atmosphere with bric-a-brac and more handle mugs than I have ever seen hanging... More

Attended this restaurant to mark a special occasion and it lived up to its reputation of doing excellent food in a traditional pub setting. The only criticism I would have is that it may overestimate the sophistication of some dinner's pallet's. They have an undoubtedly talented chef who can cook incredible food but he was not afraid to take risks,... More

We have tried the lunchtime (specials at 14 pounds for 2 courses, standard) menus and also the evening (specials at 14 pounds for 2 courses, standard) menus. So we know about all the menus and what is... More

Learnt about the gin brewed in Winchester from watercress whilst drinking an excellent ale. Sat at an old school desk and read the paper.

Very English Pub with well-prepared food. Very pretty place. We had a wonderful time. Service was very good. Food is a little pricy for what you get. The food is a work of art. Please see my pictures. We went on a Thursday early evening, early.
