Visited with family before travelling abroad. Menu choices were not disappointing. Local produce and excellent presentation.
Whether lunch or Dinner you will be guaranteed to enjoy a wonderful meal. A really unique friendly environment and a far cry from what you would expect from a "pub" . Raging log fires, unusual artefacts and excellent service.
You can't put a place on these old pubs which evokes a sense of content nostalgia when you have a drink. Near the ancient city walls, the pub is a landmark for a reason. Great selection of lagers and ales as well as fantastic food. We had the simple fish, chips and peas but it was the perfect experience in... More
This is our regular pub for a drink or meal and has never failed to keep up its excellent standard in every way. Lovely food and great staff.
We were so disappointed by our experience at the Wykeham arms. The food was tasty and beautifully presented but we paid £22 for one of our main courses which turned out it be about 5 mouthfuls of venison, leading us to order a dessert because we were still hungry which was then also nice but too expensive for what it... Very expensive for pub food! The small croquette main course was priced at £13.00 which was disappointingly small for a main course. As I was still hungry I ordered a dessert which was chocolate mousse for £9.50! One of the most expensive pub meals I have ever had! Best to avoid for next time I am in Winchester.

The chef obviously has a grudge against vegetarians, I enviously watched the diners on the next table tucking in to a roast dinner with all the trimmings whilst I ordered the only... More
Look what we had was quite tasty but there really was not a lot to taste for £15 each. I had beef and it really was only two pieces 2" x 3" two roast potatoes, 1 small Yorkshire, baton carrots 1 piece broccoli, and a puree of something Very Very disappointing and we will not be going back
My wife and I only stopped in for a couple of drinks and the bar man (he had only been working here a couple of months) was absolutely fantastic. I'm a real ale man and, without me asking, gave a really comprehensive account of the beers he had on tap, and recommended the local one (which is always a winner... More
Took family there on a monday lunchtime; booked online and surprised how popular it was; everyone was going for the £17, 3 course set lunch. No a great choice but it arrived promptly , hot and tasty, good service level, friendly, welcoming staff; soup was creamy and scalding, burger enormous, fresh and tasty, apple crumble just right. And trendily enough,... More
