An excellent Sunday lunch experience

Recently had Sunday lunch at the Wykeham Arms. Booked a table for 5 of us on-line. Two of us had the cured salmon starter which was very attractively presented and tasted good too. The main event for most of us was roast sirloin of beef, which was excellent, one of the best roasts I've had out for... read more

What can be said about this great pub that hasn't been said already? First ignore the braying of Winchester's Wellington-booted chattering middle classes with their over loud voices who make up a significant proportion of the clientele; it does soon pass when you begin to enjoy the atmosphere of the slightly eccentrically furnished maze of rooms and good selection of... This is a wonderful pub with restaurant. The atmosphere is brilliant with open fires and quirky furniture. The food is delicious and the staff very nice indeed. Super evening. We went for a birthday celebration and one of the staff made a fabulous birthday cake!

A lovely pub, full of interest and character. You could spend a whole session just looking at what is hanging on the walls. The beer is beautifully kept, but the food was disappointing. As we were going out for a slap-up anniversary dinner that night, my wife decided to just have a starter of goats cheese and beetroot salad. The... More

This place is just really interesting. It's a little old and a little dark, but it's not musty and it's not dirty. I love the old, historic decor and the food is some of the best I've eaten in the UK

I'm in danger of becoming boring. We had another super evening at the wykeham arms this week. Part of me is getting nervous thinking that one day, surely, it will disappoint but truly this has not been the case. All 5 of us enjoyed a drink in the bar before dinner and them moved to the restaurant area. Service was... More

Nice warm atmosphere as it was a wet day, therefore, a relief to sit down and be presented with a varied menu. All items ordered were of good quality esp the pea soup and topped with a lovely dessert.. the steak was not as expected but good nevertheless, overall, a little bit pricey but good value. Friendly staff always helps.... More

Wow. My absolutely favourite place to eat Sunday lunch in Winchester. Full of character, marvellous wines and the most delicious roast beef on the planet. Full of character and history. Thoroughly recommend.

Loved this cosy warm pub. The food was great and the service was excellent. We dropped in on a cold and wet weekday and were welcomed with a roaring fire. The tables were old school desks and pews and there was lots of brass and nic-naks from yesteryear, it was great. Had a cheese board and pudding, local beer and... More
