We visited a week or so ago as a group. The food was exceptional and the service was polite and personable. I had the salmon and scallop to start and it was amazing. This was followed by the venison - really high quality meat cooked very well. For dessert I had pecan pie - the margarita ice cream was delicious.... More

I was fortunate enough to visit the chesil rectory for a business lunch. The food was excellent, in particular the john dory with chervil gnocci (which I could happily have eaten more of). We also had a stunning sicilian white wine ... the name of which i've sadly forgotten so perhaps i'd better visit again to check! The restaurant is... More

We had our wedding reception here five years ago. We had the most incredible food I think I have ever eaten. Four different bowl food dishes. There wasn't room for all of our guest to sit formally. Which forced everyone to perch and mingle. Absolutely brilliant Such a very special place. Always warm and inviting. An excellent selection of wine,... More

A medieval restaurant which offers very high end food. I had an excellent meal here last week with three friends. The early bird menu is super value and the service was very good after a shaky start. A good idea to book as the restaurant was busy even on a Tuesday.

Lovely building, fantastic food and great service. We went for the early evening option which provided great value for a two or three course meal. Fully recommended - Will definitely return

The Chesil was suggested to us as a great place for foodies, with an intimate atmosphere. And boy do they deliver, we ended up booking the private dining room for our small wedding reception. Regardless of whether you have the set menu with amazing local produce or the Al a Carte, it's great And the wines... Well you'll just have... More

Four of us for set lunch today, starters leek & potato soup, and duck terrine, mains of gammon and kedgeree with a poached egg, all beautifully prepared, and polished off with two Carafes of white. Coffee and chocolates to finish....very slight "niggle" not quite enough haddock in the kedgeree. Go again?....Yep!

I am being a bit mean here, I wish I could put 3.5 stars but too bad. We ate here last year and it was excellent (good celeb spot, Judi Dench) so decided to try it again as a celebration of our children's exam results (high expectations those kids!). Maybe it is me, but when I am about to fork... More

Visited for lunch as a party of three, great surroundings. Service was that fine balance that ensures you are well cared for without being intrusive. Well enjoyed all of our dishes and the puddings were excellent. Very well priced wine and food. Well cooked and we will return soon.

This is a very old building with lots of history just at the bottom end of town and an easy walk from anywhere. The food was great as was the atmosphere!
