Nice food an excellent service

Really nice food. Staff were excellent - helpful, knowledgeable and friendly without being over bearing. One of the better places to eat in Winchester IMHO.

They have a great chef here - get down here and try it out! I went vegetarian and had Tofu-couscous dish and was amazed at the care, presentation and taste - well done. We vegetarians don't get treated like this often enough!

An interesting pub/restaurant in the lovely city of Winchester which we visited with friends. You are paying for the ambience and the surroundings. In fact the prices are shockingly expensive. £7.50 for watercress soup (could be cabbage as far as I know) and a lump of bread. Drinks similarly expensive, but what saves it is the experience of being there.... More

After a very pleasant day spent in Winchester, we finished off the day with afternoon tea. A very friendly, polite welcome and attentive service. The sandwiches and cakes were made with good quality ingredients, well prepared and presented. Plenty of lovely coffee and tea, all served in very nice surroundings.

Visited 5 Bridge Street for dinner with friends 2 weeks ago. It was OK, but let down by 2 matters. The 'Rib-wing' steaks, which 2 of us ordered, were really not that good.. tough and chewy. For £23 I do expect quite a good steak. The other matter was the service... which started out pretty well, then fell off a... More

Myself and my boyfriend stumbled across here on Saturday night during a weekend away in Winchester. The moment we entered the restaurant the service was great, with the bar staff recommending cocktails for me (the Amaretto Sour is delicious) and quickly serving our food despite the place being busy. The atmosphere was great, and the food was really tasty with... More

I recently organised my friends hen party in Winchester and after a brilliant guided tour of the city the ten of us visited No 5 Bridge St for a buffet lunch in the private function room situated off the courtyard garden. The Team were so helpful in arranging everything for our event in advance and in the day. The food... More

After entering and asking if they were serving food still (which they were) we sat down. A couple of minutes later another couple sat on the table next to us. They were served near enough immediately. After waiting 15 minutes still no body could be bothered to take our order. We got up and left. Clearly a place that doesn't... More

went for a Saturday lunch treat with my son. staff more interested in telling each other jokes in earshot of customers including really inappropriate joke referring to disabled. waited ages for an overpriced burger and chips (33.00 for two with a soft drink each) waitress asked if we wanted condiments half way through our meal, hadn't bothered to venture near... We were sat on the table nearest the open kitchen which was good to see all the chefs in action but it did get pretty hot. We were able to open the patio doors behind us which helped. The food was delicious and served really promptly. Only criticism is that the drinks took so long to be served and had... More
