Living just about 400 yards from No5 it is a regular spot for lunch but never fails to please. The new summer menu appeared last week and alongside some regular favourites there are some new items. All ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible and cooked with care. Presentation is always good. Today I was there before 1pm so was able... More

I walked the enitre length and breadth of Winchester to settle on this restaurant. Little did I know it was part of the same small group as the The White Star in Southampton at which I took a fancy to the previous evening. I actually thought the restaurant was so good that I came back the next night - so... More

Apparently they had a private booking and couldn't honour mine. Very poor experience, won't try again.

First visit to No. 5 did not disappoint. After being tempted in by the tasty sounding menu with local produce and a no fuss attitude we decided to stop in on a Sunday night. The food really was delicious, arrived in good time and was full of flavour. Even though the Gnocchi was not available, the fact that it was... More

We stayed 1 night for room only, at £124. Breakfast would have cost extra. After a night out with another couple we all wanted to stay up and chat but once the pub was closed there was no service. Also, the room was the worse for wear: Chipped fireplace, wallpaper hanging off the wall due to earlier water ingress; and... More

Stayed here whilst visiting family. We had room number 3 which was huge and very airy. Only downside was the noise from the road but after a few drinks that didn't bother us. The room had a lovely double aspect and a nice en suite. Price was more than we're used to for room only but that's Winchester for you.... More

I visited No.5 with two friends for a nice girly evening out. We were seated to the back of the pub and ordered some lovely (if a bit small) cocktails. The menu is extremely limited and seems to work around a few key local in-season ingredients. You basically pick your meat/fish and everything else is extras. I ordered pork... which... More

Stayed at hotel on a Sunday night in 2013 as the rest of Winchester was fully booked. Very pricey but lovely modern room. Based on good initial first impressions, I decided to return and visit the bar on Saturday 7th June 2014 whilst staying in Winchester with my partner. When i walked in there was a black slate board advertising... More

Hired the meeting room in the rear courtyard - an excellent venue for up to 16 people. Great service, location & value. Buffet lunch went down well. Highly recommended.
