Mostly good

A really pleasant meal for myself and 2 discerning French colleagues. Grilled chicken was excellent, fish cake special very good and steak good but not cooked rare as requested. The free range chicken and local produce through the menu stands out as a good point. Service was a little slow as... read more

My husband and I spotted this restaurant whilst walking along the river in Winchester. We have an evening meal here, which was excellent. Great menu and lovely staff.

To be honest, I am surprised that this restaurant doesn't rank higher out of Winchester eateries. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. I run a social group and we needed a venue for a Summer gathering. No.5 have a private dining room, just off the courtyard, that can accommodate 18-20 for a sit-down meal, or... More

Haven't been for a while and had forgotten how good No. 5 is. Lovely lovely meal! Lucy and her team are so attentive - so nice to feel completely looked after. Thoroughly recommend.

Simple, fresh, seasonal food prepared to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Do try the home made ice cream in seasonal flavours. It's the perfect end to a very satisfying meal.

The greeting when we arrived was non-existent. When we went to the counter to place our order, having waited for someone to ask us, we were told to sit back at our table as someone would come. We sat and waited and were completely ignored - so we left!

Solo. Wanted a light meal. Spot on. 3 small plates - all done well. Fast, efficient service. Reasonable prices. Enjoyed it.

Breakfast is served on Saturdays until 11am. Despite us turning up with only a few minutes to spare the staff were more than willing to accommodate us. I asked for a full English Breakfast and if it was at all possible to substitute the black pudding for an additional sausage and requested additional hot water for the teapot, again service... More

We arrived at 5.30 on Friday afternoon looking for some good food without too much delay. Perhaps we should have been worried by the total lack of interest in our arrival by all 3 members of staff. However, having chosen our own table and selected our food from the menu I approached the bar to order and was advised to... More
