Very nice pub !!

Stopped in for lunch . Great location and atmosphere . While it is more of a pub food is very good . Serve yourself at the bar and find a seat . Certainly not fancy but very nice .

This pub use to have amazing blackboard specials, gluten free and an amazing fish chef. Unfortunately he is no longer there and all that remains is a dreary, microwavable menu that doesn't deliver on flavour, taste or presentation. Disappointed as it was a favourite of mine before i went travelling for 4 months. Bring back the chef

Stopped here en route to meeting friends in Bournemouth. Nice food and a generally nice pub to relax for a bit. Lots of locals in but no looks or attitude from anyone. Friendly helpful barman. Very enjoyable British Pub with good value food!

Popped in for a quick lunch while we were in Winchester. The prices of drinks was a little high I thought, £5-90 for a pint of lager and a half of lager shandy. We both chose fish chips and peas off the seniors menu, which was very nice but a little frugal on the number of chips. We would certainly... More

After trawling Winchester for a pub we could take our small dog in we luckily came across this pub opposite the Guildhall ,we were a party of six people who were hungry and thirsty after being turned away from 3 places because of the dog(even though they had outside space). The outside looks a bit rough but the welcome by Kev... I loved the seafood here. The food is excellent but the surroundings are very tired. Very good choice of seafood though and center to the town. Situated very close to the bus station and the statue of King Alfred. Great food and very reasonable prices.

This is exactly what it should be, and what it looks like from the outside. A small number of previous reviewers seem to have looked from the outside at what is obviously a traditional small city pub and believed that they will walk through the doors into The Savoy Grill?!? The Crown & Anchor offered me a friendly welcome, a... More

Dave and his wife used to run this pub and were the ideal chef and barkeeper. The current people are obviously using the previous managers reputation for quality food. No food after 6 on Saturdays! and the website is run by Head Office according to the Manager.

We arrived and were ignored at the bar for a long time by a very grumpy and scruffy individual. No welcome, please or thank you. The food cannot be fresh as no-one can cook as quick as that, and when served was so tasteless that we didn't have more than a mouthful. The decor is shoddy at best. The prices... More
