We had a large comfortable, really exquisite room at the Old Vine. Really, everything one could ask. And ate dinner and breakfast. The food was very good and the atmosphere is charming and fun. Cannot recommend this Inn strongly enough! You won't be sorry if you stay there.

We had arranged to meet up with my sister and husband during a visit to Winchester. The Old Vine was chosen from internet and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the quality of food exactly what we had hoped for. The restaurant is also very well situated close to the Cathedral so all in all a very... More

A few places in Winchester have become rather pretentious of late and seem to have forgotten what people want - good food, pleasant efficient service and a relaxed atmosphere. Fortunately The Old Vine has not forgotten this. We ate here as a family on a mid week evening and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The service was friendly and... More

The staff are not waiters/waitresses just servers. No one smiles or greets you or interacts when ordering. They were totally disinterested in customers. It really is a place living off the attractions in Winchester rather than its own reputation. The starters were not tasty although the main course lamb was fairly good. The night we went practically every main had... More

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to post your review. We're very sorry you didn't enjoy your visit. We run the Old Vine as a local pub-bistro/inn rather than a upscale restaurant, and the decor, menu and style of service reflect this. Over the past nine years we've built up a loyal local following, with many repeat customers,... More

Visited The Old Vine after reading good reviews from internet. We booked the restaurant seating in advance. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. The ales were very tasty and refreshing. My wife had a fish pie and I went for a pork pie. The food was tasty and nicely presented. Overall we enjoyed our... More

Good ambience, helpful bar staff, nice selection of wines. Would go again. Seating outside, will try eating here as can get booked up quickly

Usually packed, service is friendly but unpretentious, food is locally sourced and very high quality.

We used to regularly visit this pub when in Winchester but now it has gone upmarket and all the atmosphere has gone. There is nothing interesting on the walls and although there is a selection of real ales the pint of Squirrel I had didn't taste very nice. A complete contrast to the Wykham Arms down the road.

Thanks for taking the time to posting your comments. Firstly, I'm sorry the Wight Squirrel wasn't to your liking. This Isle of Wight guest beer is very full-bodied in flavour and isn't to everyone's taste - a bit of a "Marmite!". But we do have three other contrasting beers on tap, and as the blackboard next to the pumps says... More

We had lunch in the Old Vine and really enjoyed it. The menu has an interesting selection, all four of us had something different and all enjoyed what we had. As with most places in Winchester it's not cheap but it was very nice.
