5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014 NEW

After visiting this restaurant for years it was strange to have the experience of their first night in new surrounding as they reopened last week. The new decor is absolutely fantastic, and there is loads of space around the tables. The area around the bar has been extended and it also does not impose on the diners. The loos get... More

This is the best Indian i have ever had, and I always enjoy coming here. I am warmly greeted by the manager as i walk in the door. The atmosphere is buzzing and friendly. The food cannot be faulted! It is so authentic, and tastes like it has been marinading in the sauce to get the best flavour. The waiters... More

Whilst at the moment this restaurant might look a bit outdated it's staff are helpful, friendly and dedicated. The food was very good too.

Good food and service although the ground floor seating area can get quite crowded and you will probably need to wait for a seat (even if you book ahead) on busy nights, especially Friday and Saturday. Slightly "old school" Indian restuarant but none the worse for that. Don't be put off by the outside appearance.

Despite being very busy on a Friday night, service was quick, efficient and friendly. Our drinks, starters and main courses came quickly, but we didn't feel rushed either. My friend enjoyed his Tandoori mixed grill and I loved my vegetable Vindaloo and egg fried rice. The friendly manager came over to our table and spoke to us, which was a... More

Been here a few times - this review refers to visit on Friday 19th April 2014. Went as a family of four. Booths are, as others have noted, a bit cramped, but not enough to spoil the meal. Think South west trains. Service was amiable but a bit random - seemed like the staff were not communicating with each other,... More

I don't often come to Winchester. When I do a visit to the Gandhi is a must. Tonight was not a disappointment. The owner remembered me from my visit five years ago - very impressive! As before, I went off menu, on his recommendation, and was well advised. The lamb shank was beautifully cooked and one of the best meals... More

Food always seems to be to a high standard. Service excellent. Tables a little cramped, they could do with expanding because the resturant seems to be full everytime we go there, plus people waiting for tables. Good sign I guess.

Visited on a horrible rainy night in Winchester with some colleagues. Five of us really loved the food on offer. Great service and it seems that a little work has been carried out on the inside of the premises since my last review - bright inside and very welcoming. Good quality table linen and the set-up gets 5/5. I can't... More

They may have changed their chef here as my first visit was a success, but a year later and what was delivered to the table can only be described as bland, tasteless slop and considering this is the most expensive Indian restaurant in Winchester they fall well short on the value for money stakes. The main I ordered was the... More
