Just spent two nights in Southampton. The town is a little disappointing, especially in terms of architecture. There are some fine buildings and streets but they are often marred by concrete aberrations. Ocean Village is nice and may well provide Southampton with a new heart once its finished. However, we were lucky enough to find a real gem in the... More

Turkey so tasty, almost too much of it to eat. Vegetables fresh and cooked to perfection, could not fault anything. Even though we (all 4 of us) were very full we had to try the Christmas pudding, it was stunning including the edible glitter!! Honestly would never believe I would have such a lovely meal short of spending hours on... More

Outstanding range of beers dispensed by a friendly, knowledgable and efficient barman. Asked me questions to determine which beer I might like best. (What's the beer equivalent of sommelier?) Served me one and on subsequent visits for a refil offered tastings of others. And the food. Steak and chips. yeah OK. But WHAT steak and chips! Crunchy, perfect chips. Properly... More

We were "greeted"'at the bar by a very curt and brusque lady who seemed very impatient when we were deciding what to order in the way of drinks and food. Her manner left a lot to be desired. The food was fine and served by two pleasant young ladies. Overall the place is nothing more than average but probably one... More

Good food, friendly service. Didn't try their beers but they looked good! Food was good and reasonable. You place your order at the bar & the server brings it to your table. They take credit cards.

We booked a table the previous week for four people for a pre-Christmas lunch at 2:30pm on 22nd November. We confirmed three times by phone and once in person that they served food all day. We ordered our food at 2:30pm and was told that the kitchen had closed at 2pm and the chef had gone home. No-one mentioned this... More

Visited in a large family group with adults and children! Best Sunday Roast, great choice of meats, some had a mix of two, lots of tasty veggies and cracking roast spuds! As we were a large group they asked us to pre-order. You must visit this old pub! Great service from really friendly staff too!

A great place with wonderful food and service. Lovely selection of wines and beers. The pub has so much history and was amazingly decorated for Halloween.

The Duke of Wellington is set in a residential community but is within walking distance of many hotels in the area. There are several types of hand pulled ales available. Dinner begins at 6 PM. We had the fried fish, peas, and chips (french fries in USA) for 9.50 pounds (about $ 15 USD). The portion was large enough to... More
