Dinner was fabulous

While staying at Lords or the Manor, we did have a car but we chose one night to eat at their restaurant. We started the evening in the lounge with a drink and canapés, which were unique and tasty. At dinner we were given different breads along with butter and a smoked butter. I could have stopped... read more

Stayed overnight to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The attention to detail is fabulous from the moment you arrive. Dinner in the resturant was delicious and service faultless, can throughly recommend a it.

What a gorgeous place. We came here for afternoon tea to celebrate my partner's birthday. The full afternoon tea was great. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the biscuits and cakes lovely, and the scones delicious. The tea of course very good. We had the tea indoors, in a gorgeous room with a view to the garden. Service was friendly... More

My husband booked for us to eat at the Lords of the Manor for my birthday meal. We had been before a few times and stayed in the hotel, but now we live quite close by we decided to just go for a meal. The reception on arrival was friendly but not stuffy. The Sommelier was very welcoming and knowledgeable... More

I have just arrived back from a one night stay at Lords of the Manor which included a 5 course tasting menu in the Michelin starred retaurant. The amuse bouche was truly breathtaking and I overheard other diners singing its praises. The other courses were exceptionally cooked with a mix of classical flavours and some more modern techniques. The dessert... More

I am so glad we made the effort to have dinner here. These days, it is rare to see such a correct style of service anywhere. Firstly, our party of three was escorted to the sitting room to have pre-dinner drinks. Our menus and wine list were handed to us with polite efficiency during the time we had our drinks.... More

Unfortunately unable to take advantage of the wonderful walks, otherwise an excellent one night stay. Comfortable room, warm welcome, impressive service throughout. The fires in the bar and drawing room compensated for the miseable weather. The taster menu was superb as was the breakfast. My only minor gripe would be that my wife's complimentary pre-dinner fizzy was forgotten despite being surrounded... More

My first visit to the Lords of the Manor in August 2013 was frankly very disappointing - see my earlier review. The Manager, Paul Thompson recently invited us back as his guests to see whether they could “restore their laurels”. It was the seven course tasting menu, with matching wines, which had so fallen short of expectations last time, so... More

From booking, through the welcome, the entire meal to the very end and our reluctant departure, everything was just perfect. Just the right level of involvement from the staff throughout, and little touches like remembering me by name at the end and a special request I had made for my sister's birthday all made for a celebration to remember. Many... More

This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a second review on an establishment. Our recent visit was so good it would be churlish not to. Once again we were treated to a superb five course tasting menu. It was part of a very good value "secret escapes" stay. Dinner, wine and service were, if anything, better than... More
