The first thing we noticed on entering the restaurant was the witty lighting. Colanders and champagne buckets had been turned into lights and they were very effective in setting the mood. The food was really good. I had calves liver on the first night and wild mushroom risotto on the second. My husband had the steak. The restaurant uses locally... More

Had a lovely dinner here, staff were friendly. House wine was vey good and well priced but the rest of the wines were overpriced. Only comment on the food was the mashed potatoes, though well presented seemed floury and tasted instant mash. Apart from that flavours were great and would go back there again

Dined here with family on a Friday evening. Very busy but good service. Excellent food and wine. A bit pricey but loved the cheese menu.

Now and again, when Jill and I need to get out of town, we drive down the Fosse to eat at The Old Butchers. It never disappoints. The menu is well judged, the house wine excellent and excellent value, and the proprietors friendly and professional. It is an exemplary small restaurant and I commend it to you.

just eaten a lovely meal here. Moules Mariniere were fabulous, Game Risotto full of meat. Both excellent. The house wine was very acceptable. the service came with a smile and the background music suited the decor. the whole experience is well worth the cost.

We popped in on a Friday evening and the place was not that busy, just two/three other tables and nobody came in after us at around 8pm that evening. Service was a little slow to start with, we waited ages for our first drink (I think it had been forgotten as a reminder was needed), the food was really good... More

This is a charming eatery with friendly and attentive staff. The menu is simple with wonderful local fare, and an excellent wine list. Dinner was carefully and beautifully presented, and quite delicious. The restaurant however, let itself down by serving our meal, and that of the diners at the table next to us, in little casserole dishes with broken handles.... More

The Old Butchers has had a recent facelift and a new menu. Based on sharing plates we had a superb lunch of hake and clams, quail, scallops and chorizo and pork belly with beans - all cooked to perfection. Great service as well. A great restaurant offering something a bit different in Stow.

The restaurant was opposite our B&B and closed for the first 2 nights of our stay in Stow. We decided to visit on the 3rd night and were not disappointed. The food was very tasty and beautifully prepared. We both had steak which was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. The wait staff were very young but our service was... More
