we went here when we couldnt get into the Falcon in Painswick and the hotel we were in (Cotswold 88) had only £49 set course meals. it was a good decision. the service was friendly and fast. the food was great- i had figs with blue cheese followed by upside down steak and kidney pie which were both delicious. the... We spent one day in Painswick while walking the Cotswold Way. Although we were early to arrive at the restaurant we were welcomed with bread fresh out of the oven. The food was delicious and in reasonable portions so you could enjoy three courses. The filet was really melting in your mouth, my husband's lamb was falling of the bones.... More

I went with a small group of friends to the 'French Evening' at JK's. The food was average at best, with ham added to practically every dish, as a non-meat eater, (but eating fish) this made eating a decent meal rather difficult, although to be fair I hadn't checked out the details beforehand. I could have lived with this, except... More

Located facing the famous yew trees,.we sat outside in the sun and enjoyed cold gammon served with two eggs chips and a small salad. Friendly service. Disappointing coffee tasted stewed which we weren't charged for.

Grandmum Oscar and I had a fantastic meal. The starters were delicious and whilst generous the balance was spot on. Both Grandmum and I had fillet steak that was so succulent my mouth is watering now writing this. Double cooked chips - yum! And a side salad with quails eggs! Oscar had 'Godzilla' as we had been to see the... More

Despite speaking to the owner about their fish menu (which is on the website) before booking and being reassured that there was always a big selection of fresh fish, this was not the case. The overall choice of dishes seemed a bit old fashioned (dover sole cooked with grapes, beef wellington etc.) and not what we were expecting at all.... More

We actually booked this by mistake - we have visited Painswick 3 years ago and eaten at a lovely bistro and thought this was it! - However it now turns out that was Cardenams - which was lovely 3 years ago hence we were going to book it again - however JK's was fantastic and we thought for the quality... This is a cosy and welcoming restaurant, serving freshly-cooked and tasty seasonal food. It's right in the middle of the village. Good slow-cooked lamb shank. Friendly and personal service.

This restaurant is great. On a hot Spring afternoon the outside tables were perfect for tea and cakes. The ancient warm building faces the world famous Painswick ancient yew trees. Their weird shapes surround the church. Service was very good and the menu looked inviting for a return another day for a more main meal. Parking is not easy but... More
