First time at this venue for food. We weren't disappointed! The place was quiet but it didn't put us off as the welcome and décor was first class. We sat outside in the lovely sunny garden at the rear and we were attended to promptly and ditto for the food. it was cooked well, fresh and everything you would expect... More

I hadn't been to this restaurant for many years but it has stood the test of time and is probably better than ever. Fairly limited choice if not wanting to blow the budget but two excellent meals delivered and wine at reasonable price.

We sat at a messy table, which should have been cleaned as it wasn't busy. Ordered table water which didn't appear, we ordered food at the bar after waiting and waiting to be served. The food was ok, no chilli in my crab and hardly any crab. This is not the first time I have experienced extremely poor service and... More

Thought long and hard about posting this. Chose The Fleece as it's dog friendly and menu suited a mixed age party of 6. Very busy Saturday about 2pm. Finally got 2 tables and asked the remains of previous diners' meals to be cleared. This meant removing the crockery but not the high chair and napkins or wiping the table. We... More

We stopped today, Saturday, for lunch. Just three of us. Pretty much ignored on arrival, asked for menu. Ordered two salads and one bowl of soup, three cold drinks. Waited forty minutes, asked for drinks a couple of times, they didn't arrive. Food arrived, no cutlery - asked three times, after five minutes the soup was going cold. Walked away... More

Called in just for a coffee. Good coffee. Staff we dealt with we're friendly and helpful. However when I went to the bar to settle the bill I struggled to make eye contact with any of the staff who were in the lower bar.

We popped in late -ish and didn't want anything too heavy ..so we had a starter and a platter ..which was excellent, tasty and just enough. Wine is decent too which is nice. Staff , quite quick and very amenable. All in all a nice quick and tasty visit. But it would happily cater for a longer and fuller meal... More

I regret not reading reviews before writing my own, thank God I wasn't thinking about this place for Christmas festivities last year. The food, as other reviews have suggested, is not half bad but it's the consistently sloth slow service that grates and dissipates appetite. We wanted the whole hog- starter, main and desserts. We pulled short on the latter... More

I want to start by saying this occasion was our SECOND visit. On our first visit we were delighted, food brilliant and good service. So-o . . on Sat 12th July we took family there. Ooops! They were busy & to seat five of us we were shown outside to a sort of bijou alleyway (other people were already out... More

Firstly I should make it clear that this review and rating is as a pub as we only went in for a couple of early evening drinks, so I cannot comment on the food or restaurant aspect. It is very centrally situated on the main market square, with two bars. One bar has the modern seating arrangement of higher stools... More
