The Daffodil - also known as a "blooming golden host".

The Art Deco former theatre creates a stylish setting for this restaurant which had been recommended to us. We weren't disappointed and would now recommend it ourselves! The service was friendly and attentive. The hake and the pork belly mains, and a side dish of smoked ratatouille, were all delicious and very well presented. The samphire added to the hake... More

Two recent visits, one lunch for three and then dinner for four both very satisfactory. A good menu choice and well-prepared dishes as well as excellent attentive service made this what a restaurant occasion should be - something out of the ordinary. The colourful, unusual setting of a former Art Deco cinema is certainly out of the ordinary. Keep this... More

My daughter took us to the daffodil for lunch,They have areasonably price 2 course lunch offer. I saw lobster and rib eye steak on the main menu and was tempted. I had a lobster ,prawn and avacado cocktail followed by a large rib eye steak with all the standard trimmings. I would have like to sample the sweet menu but... More

Ate with three colleagues, all had different choices and all enjoyed. Good service too. The chocolate fondant looked particularly impressive (even though I don't eat chocolate!), but the popcorn ice cream tasted exactly like the vanilla. Having queried it with the waitress I was told it was popcorn, but I remain unconvinced (if it looks like vanilla and tastes like... More

I went with friends for a meal on a Monday evening as they have live jazz. Cocktails in the bar then starter was salmon and cod fishcake with a beurre blanc and spinach - could have done as a main course it was so big! Main course for me was steak, a rare thing as so many places can't cook... More

I decided to surprise my girlfriend and take her to the daffodil for our anniversary meal. When making the reservation I told the assistant manager that it was a special occasion. They made us feel so welcome and made the evening very special. Food was very tasty and I would recommend the double Gloucester soufflé to anyone who goes (as... More
