What a find! My wife and I were in Cheltenham last Saturday and, as confirmed foodies, we checked Tripadvisor for the best restaurants in town. We liked the sound of Lumiere and so we called in for lunch (without a reservation). I must confess that we nearly turned back at the door as the exterior doesn't look very promising, but... More

I loved this place. The food was perfect. We were there for lunch - two choices at each course and each dish (and all the variety of pre-dishes/ amuse bouche etc.) full of surpise, intensity, flavour and interest. I'd recommend just trusting them - even if a dish appears to include something you wouldn't normally eat, don't let that you... More

If we hadn't asked for directions we wouldn't have found this absolute gem! After reading trip advisor reviews it had a lot to live up to, but it definitely did not disappoint! The food was fantastic quality and perfectly put together, the staff were attentive and informative without being in your face. The attention to detail was great and the... More

Lumiere is a small unpretentious restaurant which is 'big' on service, attention to detail and delicious food. Have had lunch there on several occasions and each time it was a rewarding experience. Staff genuinely seem keen to provide excellent service - and they do - every time! The menu is well thought out and the food delicious. The surprising 'extras'... More

We went here for my birthday, having come across it on the internet. We had seen the mainly excellent reviews on TA, so wanted to try it for ourselves. It did not disappoint! From the outside it is not apparent that it is a restaurant, looking much like the entrance to a small house. The inside is very intimate, with... More

Vegetarians generally get a raw deal from restaurants. Sure, I have had plenty of good meals, occasionally great ones. But too many times you're not even a second thought, or even a third. There's something on the menu because there has to be, and you can like it or lump it. Well, we visited Lumiere a few years ago (it... More

J and I are irregular visitors and not as frequent as we would like. So we both looked forward to our pre-Christmas visit on the 20th December, a seasonal present to us both. J is vegetarian but this has never been a barrier to us both asking for our own tailored made dinner tasting menu on the spot, and it... More

Wonderful once again. The 7 course tasting menu is a must with highlights from this visit being a smoked cauliflower soup (I hate cauliflower!) and a duck course of parfait, ham and croquet confit. The tequila 'slammer' pallet cleanser is always good fun. Service is friendly and efficient

I'm a big fan of food that has the wow factor be it through presentation, taste or just unusual ingredients or combinations. However, many such restaurants can be a little formal or pretentious and that's just not my thing. And then I discover Lumiere. If you include the amuse bouche I had 4 courses and they were all top class... More

We were eating in Lumiere to celebrate my daughter's graduation. It was a memorable meal with many interesting menu choices and different foods to try. In between, we had little extras. The very best thing was how helpful the staff were to us, my husband is an insulin dependant diabetic and the chef weighted his carbohydrate portions for him so... More
