I'm a big fan of food that has the wow factor be it through presentation, taste or just unusual ingredients or combinations. However, many such restaurants can be a little formal or pretentious and that's just not my thing. And then I discover Lumiere. If you include the amuse bouche I had 4 courses and they were all top class... More

We were eating in Lumiere to celebrate my daughter's graduation. It was a memorable meal with many interesting menu choices and different foods to try. In between, we had little extras. The very best thing was how helpful the staff were to us, my husband is an insulin dependant diabetic and the chef weighted his carbohydrate portions for him so... More

I honestly can't understand all the fuss about this restaurant. What am I missing? We booked for a birthday meal and were underwhelmed by the ambiance which we found functional and uninviting. From the fire door entrance to the cheap cutlery and glasses, the strange carpet and the drab decoration and stairs to the toilets which need to be painted... More

This is a very nice oasis of proper cooking and service. It's not cheap , nor does the food push many boundaries but the quality is high and you walk out with a warm feeling. It's close, but no Champignon. Positives are that the small room is well spaced and lightly decorated; The staff are friendly, informal and professional, food... More

If you've not tried fine dinning, Lumiere would be a great place to start. Order your starter and main, and then receive some tasty aperitifs - incredibly tasty single bite pastries, and a piece of "light" pork scratching with an incredible fruity sauce, followed by a tiny amount of mouth watering soup - then your starter arrives (Mushroom risotto) which... We took my son and his girlfriend to Lumiere's for his birthday treat. Well what a treat we all had. From very attentive staff to first class food. We didn't go for the taster menu, as we had one fussy eater with us and the whole table needs to take it. So we just choose off the lunchtime menu. Well... More

The food was creative and delicious. Wonderful flavours married together. You cannot go wrong. Service was very friendly. The room itself was cozy - nothing particularly special, but it was all about the food. In terms of ambience, the daffodil which we went to the previous night was highly recommended as well.

What can you say about Lumiere that hasn't already been said. This is one of the best restaurants in the country. This was my third visit and it just gets better and better and better.. Jon is an exceptional chef, every dish is a piece of art (as well as mind blowingly delicious). Helen at front of house provides the... More

The tasting menu was delicious, innovative and entertaining. The matching wine flight was the disappointment though. I don't mind paying £50 for a wine flight but I'd have preferred fewer wines but of a much higher quality, and for a restaurant called "Lumiere" the lighting and decor were a little flat and bland, and again, no match for the quality... We visited this restaurant as a surprise birthday meal for my husband and we were not disappointed! Small, intimate with a cool contemporary interior the owners have got this place just right. Nothing is fussy or over worked. Good efficient service of the food and wines (although providing jugs water of water on the tables wouldn't go amiss as we... More
