Wishing we lived closer!

Having booked a trip to Cheltenham we were in need of an excellent restaurant and we certainly found it with Le Champignon Sauvage!! Having seen other reviews of guests who had arrived late and been turned away we arrived at 7.15 for our 7.30 table but the restaurant was still locked LOL! Oh well... read more

From the outside it doesn't look too promising, but once inside it is a whole different story. Service is impeccable, not too intrusive but always available. The menu is instantly interesting and intriguing. Pre-dinner drinks are accompanied with amazing canapés. Then a pre-starter, and pre-dessert in addition to the courses chosen. The food is sublime, no other word required. The... More

thankyou Helen and david for a wonderful meal yet again the ambience was formal but very well executed and we found the staff extremely friendly I feel some reviews seem to be very critical of the staff at the end of the day they are going about in a professional manner we found them very polite and warm well the... Something special for Valentines and in many ways it was. The dining room is stylish overall - contemporary grey with pieces of art of varying quality but with no coherent theme or thread. Canapés were very good and the appetiser outstanding - broccoli and a foam of smoky bacon - great texture and taste. Starters were ok but not outstanding... More

My partner and I had a superb lunch here recently. It was amazing from start to finish, I can't speak highly enough of the place. We will definitely be back - p.s make sure you order coffee and petit fours.

As a belated birthday celebration for my wife, we'd booked a table for eight (the maximum diners allowed for a reservation, I believe) for Saturday night some months ago. We were asked to phone and confirm the booking about a week before the meal was scheduled, which we duly did. Having read some of the comments on here about unfriendly... More

The food stands out here expertly presented, they offer a three course menu with a choice off cheese at a supplement, the only down side is when we visited there was no tasting menu,

I have been accused of exaggerating my experience in restaurants but for once it is true a wonderful experience of quality food and service.

Visited mid week in early February having made a reservation as is really needed for this outstanding restaurant. Reception was polite and efficient. Ambience of dining room was very pleasant and spotless. Service was efficient but unobtrusive and pleasant. Most important the food was truly excellent - innovative, tasty and pleasant to look at. A most pleasant and memorable evening.

From the moment I arrived I was cared for by extremely helpful staff. Every taster, pallet cleanser and every dish was enjoyable. Not much for an unannounced vegetarian though, but the fish dish was of a good standard. Some of the wine list could be better, they have some wines that you can buy in an average super market which... More
