Fantastic Chefs Menu Experience... shame we could not manage cheese!

We ate here on a rare night away choosing to come to Cheltenham just to visit this restaurant. On arrival we chose a glass of champagne in the lounge whilst we looked at the menus, it didn't take long before we decided on the Chefs Menu allowing us to try a variety of dishes. Expensive for what was small potions of well cooked fusion food, but plenty of bread on offer as supplement. Service slow and inconsistent with diners sitted after us being served first. Staff not very attentive and explanations of food quite inadequate. Atmosphere subdued dampening what was meant to be a celebratory occasion

I've visited this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. On my most recent visit, we chose lunch from the fixed price menu which had a choice of 3 out 4 dishes for each course. The food and wine were both very reasonably priced for such a high quality of food. Everybody in our group enjoyed every dish and... More

Found it really difficult to understand the last couple of negative reviews. Visited yesterday and were welcomed in a most friendly way. The food was sublime and the service excellent. Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth the money.

Visited this restaurant having recently moved to Cheltenham from Scotland, and having eaten several times at Andrew Fairlies at Gleneagles and other excellent establishments thought this would be at least on a par. It was not. Atmosphere - a cross between a library and a funeral parlour Service / welcome - slightly frostly, mechanical, and a waiter who spoke no... More

With much anticipation we finally booked our meal out in August, having been told back in July that they were fully booked until September, so a great experience was expected. On arrival we were made to feel a little uncomfortable, first because we were an incredible 8 minutes late, then secondly because we asked for a glass of something less... More

Went with my wife for her birthday. After looking through the menu we were lucky enough to put ourselves completely in the hands of the Chef David, this turned out to be a fantastic experience that allowed us to taste a wide range of flavours that we would never have chosen but were truly outstanding. Helen & all the staff... More

I've visited Le Champignon Sauvage on two separate occasions now, both times with a large group of friends. It goes without saying that the food is exemplary. The dishes that David creates are nothing short of masterpieces, being as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate. The balance of flavour is quite extraordinary and has to be... More

Decided to go for my husbands belated 65th birthday lunch. The food was amazing & the staff were very friendly. Will definately be going there again.

Went for a wedding anniversary meal with my husband after hearing good things about this place including a rave review from the Guardian. Apparently the head chef has never missed a service in the last 25 years - refreshing considering most celebrity head chefs could never make a claim like this! We were both excited as we have never been... More
