I was visiting Bourton-on-the-Water with my family and friends and I were looking for a midday snack. There are a plethora of cafés, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants to try but this one did seem inviting. On arrival we found a table straight away. We ordered seven drinks and seven snacks. Popped in during the afternoon of Friday 8th, hoping for a coffee and something gluten-free. In a dismissive manner, the reply was "Oh - we don't do gluten-free." (And yes, I had read the menu outside and no, there was no mention of anything gluten-free on that, but one can always live in hope ... even a Costa-type chocolate brownie... More

the cream tea was delicious, the fruit scones were warmed, very reasonable price, and they brought 2 plates although we ordered only 1 cream tea

Anybody visiting Bourton on the Water will be spoilt for choice when looking for somewhere for lunch. We opted for the Village tea rooms, and it didn't disappoint. Service was good, and friendly. Bacon sandwich was plentiful, and freshly cooked. Large bowl of chips, was indeed large. Very! Lovely dry, crisp chips. Good value too. Recommend.

We dropped in to the tea room for a cup of tea and some cakes as the tea room looks nice enough from the outside. The location is good right in the middle of the village. The service was a bit non existent. We sat down and then a waiter came over for our order. I ordered a scone and... More

All we wanted was a coffee each and it took over 10 minutes from taking the order to arriving at our table. Another couple who arrived just after us managed to get their meal within 6 minutes. The coffee tasted OK but to have to pay extra for additional hot water was pushing it a bit.

It’s a lovely restaurant located on high street of Bourton on water. Just across the river. parking is not an issue. Just look around in the lanes and you surely will find one. It’s a beautiful village for a walk and some leisure time. We were here to explore this cute little place and stopped at this pretty restaurant. We... More

Shall certainly visit again. This is a little gem of a restaurant. Very competitive and the scones were out of this world

Sunday and the village was very busy, we stopped here after a rather eventful morning to say the least. The tea rooms itself were spotless even though they were very busy, service was very good and the three cream teas were lovely warm scones with plenty of clotted cream and jam, one of our party ordered fish and chips and although it... Having read some of the bad reviews about the Village Tea Rooms, I wonder if we actually visited the same place ! Although I must admit the waitress seemed a bit hesitant when we first sat down, I have to say that I prefer that to being hounded for an order as soon as I am seated. I do not... More
