So I was being cheeky and popped in to use the Pub WIFI. Had a half a cider while checking mail. Cider BTW was DELICIOUS (Aspalls Harry Sparrow) I saw what was coming out for lunch, put down the phone and ordered! The ploughman's that another table ordered looked amazing, as did the fish Poboy, I went for the squash... More

Visited this place for lunch and to meet up with family. The food was of very high quality and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We chose the place because we were able to take our much loved Golden Retriever in with us. Will visit again next time in the area.

Everything about The Sun is faultless. The quality of the food served in a friendly atmosphere, the choice of food....I could find nothing to complain about.

I have been here before many many years ago so was delighted to return with a friend for an informal Sunday lunch while visiting the area. We just wanted a light pub lunch so sat in the bar and it was obvious that this place has a lot of "regulars" and thats always a good sign. We ordered a starter... More

Just walked across the fields from East Bergholt to Dedham to have lunch at The Sun. We'd not been there for a bit, but it is still as good as ever. Very friendly and helpful staff - my wife is a vegan and we'd not booked, but they were instantly accommodating and the chef came up with a fantastic warm... More

This is the sort of village pub Londoners dream of finding when they venture north of the M25: wood panelled walls, super friendly staff, tables laid with an eclectic mix of vintage side plates, all opposite the grounds of a medieval church. The lunchtime menu lives up to expectations with well thought out set and a la carte options. We... More

I have eaten here a couple of times before and had a satisfactory experience but this last visit the food on all three plates was of very poor quality. the sausages where very low quality tasting (I used to make sausages so I know a proper sausage), the veg was bland but the worst of all was that we were... Members of the immediate family had travelled variously from North Norfolk, South East London and Marlow for a private family event and we'd planned to stay on and have lunch together before going our separate ways. Two of the party needed gluten free meals. I'd used TripAdvisor to research local restaurants and, people, you did not let us down! The... More
