Had a lovely time a few Saturday's ago for my boyfriend's birthday. Crab starter, rabbit main, cheese and sloe gin for me. Rabbit, turbot and cheese for him. Lovely wine. All good. Staff great. Some of the guys were clearly very junior at waiting tables but were attentive and polite. A massive mention to the waitress/manager who kept her cool... More

From the minute we arrived, until we left the service was fantastic. My lamb was excellent and my husband really enjoyed venison tartare, followed by whole Dover sole. The selection of cheeses were inspired. We chose the cheapest red and white wine on the menu, both were very good.

My husband and I were celebrating our birthday's and chose the Landgate Bistro based on Trip Advisor reviews. Wow what a find we eat out regularly and rate this as one of the best meals we have experienced for years ! We both chose the same and started with potted rabbit which was soft and delicious served with wonderful home... More

If I was a contributor to the good food guide I'd have to enter Landgate Bistro as one of the best. I'd never tried pigeon or sweetbreads but somehow felt comfortable to give both a go and didn't regret it. The sweetbreads were part of the lamb dish which was served with various different cuts and all extremely tasty. Some... More

We managed to get a table at short notice on a Saturday night. The food and service were excellent. The menu has small range of interesting food and all of food was very good.

Very focused on local sourcing. Our dishes presented the food very well, showing off the protein to best effect, though perhaps without everything quite being polished to highest level - v good, but a bit more seasoning eg/work on the veg. Desserts - the cheesecake is excellent. The brownie was v good, but definitely a runny fondant style, not a... More

I didn't expect such a French menue in little Rye. Exquisit. Very attentive service, modern interior, yet cozy.

Just outside one of the old gates of the picturesque town of Rye, this establishment does not look anything special from the outside. Inside is better, though by no means plush. But boy, does it do good food! The Potted Rabbit and Piccalilli is top grade and the Cod with an Almond Crust is superb. The portions are generous and... More

Whilst in Hasting for a long weekend, we struggled to find somewhere to eat on the Saturday evening. The Landgate Bistro soon helped - although they were fully booked, we were allowed a table earlier on the condition that it was vacated by 2100hrs. On arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown immediately to the table. Pre... More

Fabulous creative menu. Fabulous mint and pea soup, lovely rabbit, and yummy Raspberry creme brulee! Nice decor and quiet interior, perfect for a lunch in tête-à-tête.
