Excellent food served by attentive and friendly staff in a small and intimate location. Above the standard of the other places we ate at during a few days stay in Rye.

My wife and I have just got back from eating at the Landgate Bistro and we had a lovely romantic meal. My wife had the potted rabbit and Dover sole and I had the salt cod and chilli fishcakes and turbot. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff were attentive without being obtrusive. There was an extensive choice of... More

Had supper last night and once again, a superb meal, from the friendly welcome on arrival to the home made blackberry pastilles at end. We had wild mushrooms on toast followed by venison, both from nearby Beckley woods, and leek and Roquefort tart, which was so light and delicious, followed by guinea fowl, in a bacon and red wine jus,... Varied menu with a set menu on the day of our visit. Service was excellent. Food was both creative and delicious particularly the venison main course I had. Highly recommended.

Another enjoyable and memorable meal at this veritable epicentre of careful thought and hidden hard work! Terrific quality local produce cooked to enhance its natural flavours and variety of texture by complimentary techniques without adding trendy unwanted diversions to create 'new' dishes. Romney marsh lamb is served as several cuts, each one requiring different times of cooking to reach perfection... More

This is an extremely relaxed and pleasant restaurant serving local produce in an extremely attractive and price competitive manner. The food is delicious, the wine list well priced and the ambiance relaxing. Service is excellent.

We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking on bank holiday Saturday after we had read about the restaurant in the book 'Where chefs eat'. We were greeted by the lovely front of house lady and shown to our table. We had to wait a while for our friends to arrive but were given bread and offered water... More

Had a lovely time a few Saturday's ago for my boyfriend's birthday. Crab starter, rabbit main, cheese and sloe gin for me. Rabbit, turbot and cheese for him. Lovely wine. All good. Staff great. Some of the guys were clearly very junior at waiting tables but were attentive and polite. A massive mention to the waitress/manager who kept her cool... More
