I didn't expect such a French menue in little Rye. Exquisit. Very attentive service, modern interior, yet cozy.

Just outside one of the old gates of the picturesque town of Rye, this establishment does not look anything special from the outside. Inside is better, though by no means plush. But boy, does it do good food! The Potted Rabbit and Piccalilli is top grade and the Cod with an Almond Crust is superb. The portions are generous and... More

Whilst in Hasting for a long weekend, we struggled to find somewhere to eat on the Saturday evening. The Landgate Bistro soon helped - although they were fully booked, we were allowed a table earlier on the condition that it was vacated by 2100hrs. On arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown immediately to the table. Pre... More

Fabulous creative menu. Fabulous mint and pea soup, lovely rabbit, and yummy Raspberry creme brulee! Nice decor and quiet interior, perfect for a lunch in tête-à-tête.

Definitely one of the best meals we have had the pleasure to be served in the UK. The staff were very attentive and professional. One significant downside was the heat in the restaurant, an airco unit for those humid days would be a plus, with an ambient temperature adding to what was a great dining experience. The restaurant also seems... More

Returning late-ish for England from a concert and passing through Rye we needed to eat, and just trying wherever we could. Rebuffed most uncivily at Webbe's our advice is do not even think about it, we turned up at the Landgate, to have a wonderfully smiling welcome, and the offer to look after us till a table became vacant or... 5 of us dined here on a Saturday night for a friends birthday while staying in Rye for the weekend. The food was excellent, I would've had several of the choices on the menu and it is locally sourced so very fresh. We had perfectly cooked lamb, pork and sole with wines recommended to match. Dessert was amazing, the nut... More

I went with seven friends to celebrate a special occasion (significant birthday), having been here last year on a visit to Rye. We all loved it! They use local produce as much as possible and have daily specials. The owner/manager remembered us from our previous visit a year ago - remarkable, considering they seem to be very popular. She is... More

We looked forward to going. On Arrival very bland atmosphere white walls bit like someone's front room. Awful 60's music . The food was ok as was the service and wine. But it could be all be so much better . First of all make it a more interesting place and ditch the Muzak .
